Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 410

Chapter 410

Which was probably exactly what my mother was trying to provoke.

“Twelve hours, I called out, interrupting before Jerome could do something rash.

*Twelve hours and we’re coming for them. With overwhelming force and zero tolerance for anyone who’s hurt them. Pass that message to whatever coalition you’ve assembled. They have twelve hours to surrender peacefully or face the consequences.

“Jerome sneered. “You think you can intimidate me with threats, boy? I’ve lived for centuries. I’ve seen alphas rise and fall. Your parents

burned my sister’s nest to the ground. I watched them execute people I loved. You think I’m going to be frightened by a young werewolf playing at being progressive?”

“I don’t think you’re going to be frightened,” I said coldly.

“I know you’re going to be dead if anything happens to my parents. That’s not a threat. That’s a promise. And unlike my parents forty years ago, I won’t just burn your nest. I’ll make sure every supernatural faction in this region knows you kidnapped elderly pack leaders who were trying to make peace. I’ll turn you into the villain and use your actions as justification for exactly the kind of progressive alliance you’re trying

to prevent.”

“So either way, you lose,” Zade added, stepping into camera view beside me. “You kill them, you make them martyrs and unite the region against you. You let them go, you prove you’re ineffective and lose credibility. Your only winning move is to surrender now and hope for

mercy.”

Jerome’s expression had shifted from angry to calculating. He hadn’t expected organized resistance, hadn’t planned for the possibility that his hostages’ deaths might actually strengthen rather than weaken his opponents’ position.

“Twelve hours,” I repeated. “Starting now.”

I ended the call before Jerome could respond, then immediately turned to my team.

“Alright. We know where they are, we know they’re alive, and we know my parents are handling captivity exactly how I’d expect-by being as difficult as possible.”

“Your mother threatened to peg a centuries-old nightwalker,” Lynn said, her voice filled with horrified admiration.

“I don’t know whether to be impressed or concerned.”

“Both,” I said. “Definitely both. But she’s also buying time, keeping their captors off-balance, maintaining morale. Everything she and my father just did-the jokes, the mockery, the complete refusal to show fear that’s tactical. They’re making Jerome and his coalition question whether killing them is worth the hassle.”

“Plus they gave us intelligence,” Rivers added. “Confirmed they’re being held somewhere with stone walls and minimal lighting-probably underground. Mentioned Jerome’s sister’s nest being burned, which gives us motivation context. And your mother specifically told us to check on Shawn, which means she knows he’s important to whatever plan she and your father are working.

“I looked at Shawn, who was staring at the now-blank laptop screen with an expression of shock.

‘She really cares about me,” he said quietly. “Your mother. She was chained and beaten and facing death, and she was worried about me. About whether I was okay.”

“That’s who she is,” I said gently. “Under all the mistakes and the pr people she considers family. And apparently, she considers you family.”

Shawn’s eyes filled with tears. “I don’t deserve-”

“Stop, I interrupted. “You deserve exactly what you’re getting-acce parents just gave us. They bought time and provided intelligence. Let’s r
