Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 432

Chapter 432

XENOIS

Ollie clung to his grandfather, sobbing into his shoulder. And my father held him, rocking slightly, making soothing sounds while his own eyes filled with tears he wouldn’t let fall.

“She promised she’d teach me to bake her special cookies,” Ollie said between sobs. “She said we’d do it together when things calmed down. She can’t die before we make cookies.”

“She won’t,” my father promised. “We’ll make those cookies together. All three of us. And your grandmother will critique our technique the entire time because that’s what she does.”

Riley and Lake had gravitated to their brother, forming a small cluster of terrified five-year-olds who’d just experienced combat and were now watching their grandmother fight for her life.

I wanted to comfort them. Wanted to tell them everything would be okay, that their grandmother would survive, that this would all work out.

But I couldn’t lie to them. They’d seen too much, experienced too much, to accept empty reassurances.

So I just moved closer, positioning myself so they could lean against me if they needed to. Offering physical presence since I had no words that would help.

“I’ve stabilized her,” Lynn announced after what felt like hours

was probably only twenty minutes. “The internal

bleeding has stopped. But she’s lost a lot of blood and her body is in shock. She needs rest, fluids, and monitoring. The next twenty-four hours are critical.”

“Can I see her?” my father asked immediately.

“Of course,” Lynn said gently. “Though she’s unconscious and probably will be for several hours. The healing magic is taking a lot out of her system.”

My father moved to the dining table where my mother lay, looking small and fragile in a way she never had before. Her face was pale, her breathing shallow but steady, her hands limp at her sides,

He took one of those hands in his, holding it carefully like it might break.

“You scared me,” he said softly, his voice finally cracking with the emotion he’d been suppressing. “Silvia, you scared me so badly. When you coughed up that blood, when you collapsed-I thought I’d lost you. After everything we survived, after escaping and fighting and making it home, I thought you were going to die anyway.”

She didn’t respond. Couldn’t respond. Just lay there breathing, her body doing its best to heal from trauma it was too old

to handle easily.

“You’re not allowed to die before me, my father continued, tears streaming down his face now. “That was the agreement. I die first because I’m older and because you handle grief better than I do. You don’t get to break that agreement. You hear me,

Silvia? You don’t get to leave me first.”

Ollie was crying again, watching his grandfather break down in a way he’d probably never seen before. Riley and Lake

looked shell-shocked, processing emotions they didn’t have context for.

I felt Lumina move to my side, her hand finding mine and squeezing gently.

“She’s going to be okay,” Lumina whispered. “Lynn wouldn’t have said she was stable if there was immediate danger.”

“I know,” I said. “But look at him. Look at my father.”

We watched as Samuel Blackwood-former alpha, territorial war veteran, the man who’d built a pack through blood and

determination-wept over his unconscious mate.

her.”

“They’ve been together forty-three years,” I said quietly. “More than half his life. He doesn’t know how to exist without

“Then it’s good she’s not going anywhere,” Lumina said firmly.
