Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 503

Chapter 503

1 did remember. In that moment of death, consumed by grief and rage, I’d promised that if I got another chance, I would leave Xenois. Would save Ollie from his father’s negligence. Would spare us both the pain of loving someone who never loved us back.

“I was supposed to leave him, I said quietly.

‘You were supposed to leave him, Janice agreed. “That was the price. I’d give you back time, give you knowledge of what was coming, give you the ability to save your son. In exchange, you’d remove yourself and Ollie from Xenois’s life. Let him have his precious Sophia and Riley without your

interference.

“But I couldn’t, I protested, finding my voice. “When I came back, when I had time to investigate-Janice, Xenois wasn’t choosing Sophia over me. He was being magically controlled. Sophia was using compulsion magic, manipulation spells, making him believe Riley needed him more than his own family. It

wasn’t his fault.”

“Does that matter?” Janice asked coldly. “The outcome was the same. Your son died. You died. Whether through magical manipulation or genuine

neglect, the result was identical.”

“But it wasn’t his choice!” I insisted. “Once I broke Sophia’s control, once he understood what was happening-he came back to us. He chose us. He became the father and mate we needed.”

“Because you intervened, Janice pointed out. “Because you used the knowledge I gave you to change events. But that wasn’t our agreement, Lumina. You were supposed to save yourself and Ollie by leaving. Instead, you saved everyone-Xenois, Riley, Lake, even Sophia in your own way by exposing her manipulation. You changed the entire trajectory of multiple lives.”

“Isn’t that good?” I asked desperately. “Everyone’s better off now. Riley’s home. Lake’s safe. Ollie’s healthy. Xenois is free from magical control. The pack is stronger. Why is that a problem?”

Janice stopped circling and stood directly in front of me, those black eyes seeming to see through to my soul. “Because it’s not what you promised. And in my world, Lumina, promises matter. Debts must be paid.”

“What do you want?” I asked, though I was terrified of the answer.

‘I want you to understand something first, Janice said. “When I sent you back, I didn’t just give you knowledge. I gave you power. The power to change not just your own fate, but the fate of everyone around you. Every decision you made diffèrently-every choice you influenced-it rippled outward, affecting

countless lives.”

She waved her hand and images appeared in the fog around us. I saw myself confronting Sophia, breaking her control over Xenois. Saw myself insisting on medical tests that revealed Ollie’s heart condition early enough to treat. Saw myself in that facility, finding Riley and Lake, bringing them home.

“You changed everything,” Janice said. “Samuel and Silvia’s kidnapping-that happened differently because you’d strengthened pack alliances I never gave you information about. Shawn’s adoption-that created bonds that didn’t exist in your original timeline. The school attack-the outcome was different because you’d influenced so many small decisions that led to stronger defenses, better training, more unified pack structure,

More images swirled past. I saw versions of events I remembered, but also glimpses of how they might have gone differently. Timelines branching and splitting based on choices I’d made or influenced.

“Every life you touched, you changed, Janice continued. “That’s the nature of time manipulation. Small changes cascade into larger ones. You didn’t just save your son-you rewrote the entire fabric of events for everyone in your sphere of influence.”

‘I don’t understand,” I admitted. “If I made things better, if I helped people-why is that wrong?”
