Within the hour, they were in the city, chauffeured in one of the Evergreen cars, the kind that made people
turn to stare.
When they stopped in front of an elegant building with shimmering glass windows and golden signage. Alina blinked. “This place looks expensive.” She murmured looking around in awe.
Luna smiled proudly. “It should. This is Rosa Devane’s atelier, best designer in all of Ravienne?
Alina’s eyes widened. “Wait, Rosa Devane? You mean “The Rosa Devane?‘”
When her mother had mentioned Rosa, Alina didn’t know it was Rosa Devane. Rosa was a legend in the fashion world.
“The very same,” Luna said, clearly pleased with herself. “She’s an old friend. Normally, you’d have to book an appointment months in advance, but…” She waved her hand dismissively. “She makes exceptions for me.”
“Because you’re Luna Evergreen.” Alina teased.
“Exactly.”
Inside, the atelier was breathtaking. Floor–to–ceiling windows bathed everything in light, reflecting off mannequins draped in shimmering fabrics and sketches pinned along the walls. The air smelled faintly of roses and expensive perfume.
“Luna Evergreen!” A voice cried from across the room.
Alina turned to see a woman in her early fifties approaching them. She was graceful, elegant, and dressed in flowing cream. Her silver hair was swept into a chic bun, and her eyes sparkled with affection.
“Rosa, darling!” Luna exclaimed, embracing her warmly. “It’s been far too long!”
Rosa laughed softly. “You say that every time, yet it’s always true.” Her gaze shifted to Alina, and her smile widened. “And who is this stunning young woman?”
Luna beamed. “My daughter. Alina.”
Rosa’s hand flew to her chest. “Oh my goodness,” she whispered, stepping closer. “She’s the very image of you when you were her age. The same grace, the same sparkle in her eyes.” She turned to Alina. “You are
breathtaking, my dear. Absolutely breathtaking.”
Alina blushed softly. “Thank you, ma’am.”
“Oh, no, call me Rosa,” the woman said warmly. “I’ve known your mother long before you were born. You’ve
