Chapter 343
AUTHOR’S POV
Meanwhile happening at the same time on another part of Ravinne were three people making preparations.
The room was littered with paper.
Not scattered carelessly, but deliberately mapped and spread across the table. There were printed lists neatly stacked, handwritten notes in Lucian’s precise handwriting lining the edges. Every surface on the table had been claimed
The quiet hum of focus filled the space, broken only by the occasional rustle of paper and the distant sound of traffic
outside.
Lucian stood near the table, sleeves rolled up, hair slightly disheveled, eyes sharp and calculating as he scanned another list.
Ace sat across from him, a pen tapping against the table as he leaned over a map of the district surrounding Alina’s former residence.
Violet stood by the dresser, pulling on her jacket, her reflection tense in the mirror as she listened.
“Alright,” Ace said, exhaling slowly. “Libraries within a five–mile radius of her old house alone… we’re looking at twelve.”
Lucian didn’t look up. “Her mother wouldn’t go to all twelve.”
“No,” Violet agreed quietly. “But my mom is methodical. If she had routines, she’d stick to the same few places.”
Lucian finally lifted his head. “Which is why we narrow it down.”
He moved closer, placing a finger on the map.
“Public libraries near hospitals, schools, or churches,” he said. “Places she could justify visiting without raising suspicion.”
Ace nodded. “There’s the old Elmwood Library. Two blocks from St. Gabriel’s.”
“And Crescent Hill,” Violet added. “Quiet. Mostly older patrons.”
Lucian circled both with a pen. “Those are our starting points.”
Ace leaned back. “We split up?”
Lucian shook his head immediately. “No. Not yet.”
Ace frowned. “Why?”
“Because if we’re wrong,” Lucian said calmly, “and someone is watching… we don’t give them multiple targets.”
Violet turned fully toward him now. “You think we’re being watched?”
“I assume we always am.”
There was no arrogance in his tone. Only experience.
Ace sighed. “Alright. Precautions?”
“We rotate vehicles,” Lucian said. “No predictable routes. Phones stay on airplane mode once we’re out. If anyone tails us, we abort immediately.”

And Violet? Are asked
going
She stays visible,” Lucian replied without hesitation. If anyone is watching, leather see a wand wann ber deg urgency. No tension.”
Violet lifted a brow. Using me as bait?”
Larcian met her gaze. “Using you as normalcy.”
She considered it, then nodded, “Fine, i’ll go get ready? She said disappearing down the hallway to her room.
Ace pushed his chair back. “I’ll grab my jacket.”
Lucian turned toward the bedroom, reaching for his watch, his movements smooth, controlled. He was halfway through fastening the clasp when-
The television flickered.
Ace had stopped walking.
Lucian didn’t notice at first.
Ace’s eyes were fixed on the screen.
“…what the hell,” Ace muttered under his breath.
He reached for the remote and turned the volume up.
Lucian was still focused on his watch, his mind already shifting toward routes and contingencies, when Ace spoke again…this time sharper.
“Lucian.”
No response.
“Boss.”
That got him.
Lucian lifted his head slowly, irritation flickering across his features. “What is it?”
Ace didn’t answer. He just tilted his chin toward the television.
Lucian followed his gaze.
The image sharpened.
A familiar garden. Cameras. Microphones.
The Evergreen mansion.
Lucian went very still.
The sound of Darius Evergreen’s voice filled the room.
“… Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to formally introduce to the world… Lucius Stormvale, the long–lost son of the Stormvale family.”
Ace’s head snapped toward Lucian so fast it was almost violent.

What
Lucianx eyes didn’t leave the screen:
Cassian Voss.no, Lucian Stormvale.presumely, now sat beside Darius, polished and composed, a practiced smile on his lips.
Ace snapped suddenly. “That’s not possible.”
Lucian’s expression remained unreadable.
“That’s your name.” Ace continued, anger flaring. “That’s you. He’s pretending to be you.”
Lucian said nothing.
Ace gestured wildly at the screen. “And Darius Evergreen is just….what? Accepting it?”
Lucian finally spoke, his voice low. “If Darius believes him…”
He paused.
“…then Cassian has proof, strong evidence.”
Ace stared at him. “You’re saying he convinced Darius Evergreen that he’s Lucius Stormvale?”
“Yes.”
Ace raked a hand through his hair. “How?”
“I don’t know,” Lucian admitted. “Yet.”
Lucian didn’t look at Ace. He was watching Alina.
She sat stiffly, hands clenched in her lap, her face pale, eyes empty.
That was when Darius spoke again.
“And now… another announcement…”
Lucian’s jaw tightened.
The pause stretched.
Murmurs rose from the press.
“… Lucius Stormvale and my daughter, Dahlia Evergreen, will be engaged.”
Lucian’s fist clenched.
Hard.
“When is the ceremony scheduled?” a reporter called out.
“Next week,” Darius replied.
Ace sucked in a sharp breath. “No.”
Cassian turned slightly, his gaze settling on Alina.

Possessive and satisfied,
Lucian’s control cracked just enough for Ace to notice.
His jaw clenched tighter, muscles jumping as something dark and dangerous flared in his eyes
“That bastard.” Ace growled. “He’s crossed a line.”
Again, Lucian said nothing.
But his eyes burned.
He saw it all… the way Alina didn’t move, didn’t react. The way her spirit looked crushed beneath the weight of what was being done to her.
“She’s being forced clearly,” Ace said quietly.
Lucian nodded once in agreement.
“She wouldn’t agree to this,” Ace continued. “Not willingly at least, that much I know.”
Lucian leaned closer to the screen, his voice barely audible.
