Just then, the door opened. Sebastian and Serena walked out. Sebastian seemed fine; Noelle finally let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.

Serena pinched Noelle’s cheek with a mock scowl. “You’re not even officially married to him, and you’re already this worried about him?”

Sebastian turned to his assistant. “Primo, prepare a guest room for Ms. Wynn. She doesn’t come often. Let her stay a few days and relax.”

“No need,” Serena said, lifting her chin. “I’ll stay with Noelle.”

Serena hadn’t eaten yet, so Sebastian asked the staff to prepare some food for her. After that, he went back to his study, leaving the two women alone to catch up.

That night, Serena and Noelle lay on the same bed. Serena laughed as soon as she thought

about the Kains.

“They are all over the news now! I saw it right before my flight took off,” Serena said. “Noelle, you finally made your move against them!”

Noelle smiled faintly. Even though she wasn’t there in person, she knew Willow’s situation wouldn’t end well.

This was just a small down payment.

Everything she had suffered, she would make them repay it, with interest.

Willow was dragged back inside. Gresham ordered someone to slap her hard across the face, again and again, until her entire face was swollen.

He doesn’t stop here. Gresham even hired doctors to run DNA tests on all three of their children.

The results showed they were indeed Gresham’s children, but the knot in his heart didn’t loosen at all.

“Lock her in her room!” Gresham roared. “Without my permission, no food and no water! Starve that slut! She cheated on me for 20 years! What a bitch!”

“Dad!” Viola cried as she rushed forward. “Mom is already injured! You won’t get her a doctor, and now you won’t give her food? You’ll kill her!” She sobbed uncontrollably. “This is all Noelle’s fault! She set Mom up! Why don’t you go after Noelle instead? Why punish Mom?!”

Gresham shoved Viola aside in disgust. “Your mother is the shameless slut! Stop defending her!” he snapped. “Blame Noelle? For what? Your mother was involved with another man for 20 years! How old was Noelle back then? If Noelle refused, could she have forced her mother to cheat?

He pointed at Viola coldly. “Don’t beg for her again, or I will kick you out of the house with her.”

Gresham stormed out in anger. Inside the house the servants were too afraid to say anything. No one dared to bring Willow any food. They simply left her alone in her room, leaving her to fend for herself

“Jasper, you have to help Mom!”

Jasper showed no expression. He glanced at the rightly closed door, then turned away in exhaustion. Everything felt too absurd. The mother he had respected turned out to be someone he could no longer recognize.

He could not accept it. Jasper left without looking back.
