Sebastian looked at her, annoyed but also amusel. He reached out and pinched her cheek. “It’s so late. Why are you in my bed?”

Noelle pulled the blanket down further, her mischievous little face showing and her eyes sparkling. “Honey, it’s thundering. I’m scared.”

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, teasing her. “Scared?”

Her soft fingers accidentally brushed against his chest. Sebastian’s eyes darkened a bit, and his breath hitched for a second. He caught her hand to stop her from moving. His voice was low. “Noey, stop messing around.”

“Just let me cuddle,” Noelle said, pushing her luck and wiggling into his arms. She could smell the fresh scent of his soap. “I promise I’ll be good.”

Sebastian looked down at her fluffy head in his arms, his heart softening.

Of course, he knew what she was trying to do, but…

He finally sighed, held back as always, then lifted her up along with the blanket. “Come on. I’ll take you back to your room.”
