Noelle’s eyes flicked up. She immediately knew who it was.

Watching the manager treat Noelle with total respect, Juliet flushed with embarrassment.

She had just assumed Noelle only had that man to back her up. Then, the manager showed up, showing such deference. It clearly had nothing to do with that man.

The owner of this mall was untouchable. Many people had tried to make connections and failed. And yet, this seemingly ordinary “country bumpkin” actually knew the owner.

Judging by the manager’s tone, they seemed pretty close.

Juliet’s heart raced as fear crept in.

The manager smiled politely at Juliet and said, “Miss, this dress has already been reserved by Ms. Kain. Could you take a look at something else?”

Juliet’s confidence evaporated. She didn’t want to offend the mall’s owner and quickly nodded. “Y–Yes, yes, I’ll look at something else!”

She scurried away as if ghosts were chasing her.

The manager immediately had a clerk wrap up the dress Noelle had picked out. She tried to pay, but the manager shook his head. “Ms. Guzman said everything is free for you while you’re here. We can’t accept payment.”

Noelle didn’t push. Instead, she pulled out her phone and texted Alina.

Before she could even send it, Alina called.

“Noelle, I heard you’re in Kingstowne?” Alina’s voice was clear and cheerful.

“Yeah.”

“Still shopping? Let the manager guide you around. Take whatever you like. I opened this mall for fun, and the profits are fine. Don’t worry about spending my money.”

Alina held her phone in one hand and a pen in the other, signing papers. Her short hair was tucked neatly behind her ears. She moved with efficiency.

With a photographic memory, she could read at lightning speed and sign.

Each time she signed a document, her assistant would hand another, standing quietly by without daring to disturb her.

Once finished, she lifted her chin slightly, and her assistant wisely gathered up all the files.

Switching the phone to her right hand, Alina said, “You don’t come to Kingstowne often. I’ll call Yvette tonight. Let’s have dinner together.”

“Sure!” Noelle agreed.

“Ms. Guzman, there’s an important banquet tonight. Should I cancel it for you?” the assistant whispered.

Alina nodded. “Okay.”

She never liked those pointless banquets anyway

There were just people who liked to pretend they were successful, clinking glasses and bragging nonstop.

She was tired of it.

She preferred improving her skills over wasting time at social events. She didn’t need networking.

In fact, people wanted to network with her.

“Ms. Kain is the miracle doctor who cured Ms. Madeline, right?”

The assistant knew a bit. “It’s good to connect with someone like her. Everyone wants to know a great doctor.”

After all, everybody got sick at some point.

Everyone wanted to know a good doctor who could save them in a critical moment.

Alina stood up, her short hair neat, eyes focused “I invited her to dinner just because I like her. Nothing more.”
