“Stop looking so cold. You’re scaring Charlotte,” Mary scolded Alina again.

“Charlotte, Alina just looks a bit cold on the outside. She’s actually easy to get along with. This is your first time meeting her, so don’t be scared. You’ll understand her better over time,” Wesley said gently.
“Is that so?” Alina sat down beside Brian, crossing her legs and leaning back against the couch. Her sharp gaze swept over Viola. “This isn’t our first time meeting.”
“You’ve met before?” Brian asked in surprise.
“I ran into her before when I went to Riverdale to handle some business.”
Viola’s smile was barely holding together.
Wesley laughed. “Really? What a coincidence. Sisters are always connected. Guess it’s fate that Charlotte’s back with us.”
Mary ignored Alina completely. She just kept stroking Viola’s face, tears filling her eyes as she called out, “My daughter…”
Viola was panicking inside, afraid Alina would say something else and expose her. But Alina said nothing more. She simply sat calmly on the couch, looking at the clothes Viola had brought back and her DNA test
report.
Those were the clothes Noelle had been wearing when she was abducted.
Willow had kept them all these years. Jasper later handed them to Viola, along with the DNA test she had done using Noelle’s toothbrush. That was why the Guzmans firmly believed she was the long–lost Charlotte.
Viola watched Alina cautiously, unable to tell what she was thinking.
Seeing that Alina showed no intention of exposing her, Viola finally relaxed a little.
As the conversation went on, it eventually turned to Viola’s SAT and her arrest.
Viola burst into tears. “I–I was framed. Mom, Dad… you have to believe me. You have to help me.
“All these years… I was adopted by the Kains, but they abused me the entire time. The Kains‘ biological daughter, Noelle, always used her status to bully me. She locked me in the basement and often refused to give me food. This time, she was jealous of my grades and afraid I’d score higher than her on the SAT, so she deliberately set me up and had me thrown into jail…
“If you hadn’t come to save me, I’m afraid I would’ve never gotten out in this lifetime. Sob…”
Viola cried her heart out, painting herself as a pitiful victim who had suffered abuse in her adoptive family and was ultimately framed and imprisoned. She knew Mary was soft–hearted and full of guilt toward the daughter she had lost and regained. Every word struck exactly where it hurt most.

“What? They actually dared to treat you like that?” Mary exploded in rage, her heart aching as she tightly hugged Viola. “You’ve suffered so much! Don’t worry, I’m here now. No one will ever bully you again! I won’t let the Kains and Noelle off!”
Wesley’s expression darkened as well. Though he wasn’t as outwardly emotional as Mary, his gaze grew noticeably colder.
His daughter being lost for so many years was already tragic enough. To think she had also been abused like this crossed his bottom line.
“Mom, Dad… even though the Kains treated me badly, they did raise me for many years. Let’s just let this matter go… Can we not pursue it anymore?”
What Viola really didn’t want was for Mary to meet Noelle. Noelle looked far too similar to Mary. If she saw her, suspicion would definitely arise.
“Oh, sweetie, how can you be so understanding? My heart is breaking for you!” Mary hugged Viola even tighter, crying uncontrollably.
Alina stood up and looked down at the crying pair from above. Her tone returned to its usual businesslike calm, carrying an unquestionable pressure. “Mom, Dad, Uncle Brian, leave the Riverdale matter to me. I’ll handle everything properly.”
“We’ve always trusted you to get things done.” Wesley nodded.
The car accident still needed follow–up. With Alina handling it, they felt most at ease.
Alina glanced at Viola again, paused briefly, then added pointedly, “As for Charlotte’s identity… Although the DNA test results are already confirmed, to ensure absolute certainty and avoid gossip later on, I think it might be better to conduct a more thorough investigation into her experiences in Riverdale over the years. After all, family reunions are a serious matter. Being cautious can never hurt. Don’t you agree, Dad?”
Viola’s sobbing stopped instantly.
Alina’s words were completely reasonable, spoken from the standpoint of the family’s interests, leaving no room for criticism. Yet they were like a soft blade pressed right against Viola’s throat.
What exactly is Alina trying to do?
Roman also received the news.
Hearing that Charlotte had been found, he was overjoyed and rushed over immediately. What he saw, however, was Viola.
