Inside the room, Noelle and Sebastian sat facing each other.
“I already taught the Invictus Alliance a lesson. Let’s leave it at that this time,” Noelle said calmly as she looked at Sebastian.
The moment she lifted her eyes, she caught the lingering cold killing intent that had yet to fade from his gaze.
She knew him too well. If she didn’t bring it up herself, Sebastian would likely give the order next, sending IBI’s elite forces to wipe out several key Invictus Alliance strongholds, or even go confront Troy in person.
Sebastian looked up at her. Dark currents churned in his deep eyes as he spoke in a low voice. “He laid hands on you.”
Just a few words, hard and absolute.
To him, laying a hand on Noelle meant crossing a line that could never be forgiven. There was no room for compromise.
The Invictus Alliance deserved destruction.
Noelle reached out and gently placed her hand over his, which rested on the table, clenched tight.
Her fingertips were slightly cool, yet they strangely soothed the violent fury surging inside him.
“The leader of the Invictus Alliance came out of Alliance 749, and he was once one of my subordinates. He had a child late in life and spoiled him too much, which is how he ended up with a son like that. For old times‘ sake, let’s spare him this once and not pursue it further.”
She paused briefly, then continued, “Besides, I already dealt with Zeph myself. That leg of his will keep him in bed for at least a year. That’s more than enough for him to remember the lesson. If Troy has any sense, he’ll discipline his son properly instead of provoking us again. If he doesn’t…”
Her eyes sharpened slightly.
“Then you won’t need to move a finger, I’ll go tear down the Invictus Alliance headquarters myself.”
So Troy had better know his place.
Otherwise, he alone would bear the consequences.
Victor had already purchased all the ingredients listed in Noelle’s prescription and handed them over to Medical Research for preparation. However, once the medicine was finished, very few people were willing to come and collect it.
Even those who did take it had no intention of actually drinking it.
After Elliot’s injury, their dislike for Noelle only deepened.
Since the prescription came from her, they refused to take it. Who knew whether it might harm them?
“Dr. Bourn, we heard this prescription was written by Mrs. Menzie. She said the drugs we took earlier had problems. Is that true?” someone asked Rachel.
Rachel smiled faintly. “I’ve studied medicine for 10 years, and I believe my formula had no issues. But if Mrs. Menzie says there was a problem, then perhaps there really was one. As for the medicine she prescribed…”

She hesitated, looking troubled. “It was ordered by Mr. Menzie, so I can’t disobey. You can take it. If anything goes wrong, you can come to me.”
They already didn’t trust Noelle. Hearing Rachel’s words, which sounded helpless on the surface but subtly implied that the prescription was risky, forced by Sebastian, and something she would take responsibility for if it went wrong, their resistance immediately hit its peak.
“If Dr. Bourn says that, then there must be something wrong with the medicine.”
“She doesn’t even sound confident. Are we supposed to be test subjects?”
“Dr. Bourn has studied medicine for ten years and says her own formula was fine. What does a high school graduate know?”
“I’m not taking it. Absolutely not. Who knows what will happen if we drink it.”
The discussion grew louder and more heated. As they stared at the herbal medicine prepared according to Noelle’s prescription, their eyes were filled with doubt and rejection. No one stepped forward to take it, let alone drink it.
Elliot, who had been saved by Noelle, was still recovering in the medical ward and had no idea what was happening outside.
As for the others who had participated in the drug trials and were supposed to take the medicine, some found excuses to avoid it, while others took it only to secretly pour it out later. None of them planned to drink it.
For a time, the atmosphere in Medical Research grew tense and stagnant.
Rachel stood off to the side, watching the scene. A faint trace of satisfaction flickered in her eyes., though her face showed only concern and hesitation as she spoke gently, “Everyone, please don’t react like this. After all, it’s Mr. Menzie’s order. Mrs. Menzie may have meant well. It’s just that medicine is complicated, and even a small mistake can be dangerous. If you really don’t feel comfortable, you can set it aside for now. I’ll explain the situation to Mr. Menzie.”
Her words sounded like mediation, but in reality, they only reinforced the idea that Noelle’s prescription was unreliable and risky, while painting Rachel as someone kind–hearted and forced to carry out orders.
“Dr. Bourn, you’re too kind.”
“This can’t just be brushed aside. We have to report this to Mr. Menzie.”
‘That’s right. We can’t let a non–professional gamble with our bodies.”
The crowd grew even more agitated. Some even began organizing among themselves, planning to jointly protest to the higher–ups and refuse to take the medicine prescribed by Noelle.
