The moment Gresham heard that his son had laid hands on his woman, rage shook him from head to toe. His face turned icy. He shoved Louise away, grabbed a heavy vase from the hallway, and charged straight into Jasper’s room.
The crash startled Jasper awake. His vision swam with alcohol. Before he could even make out who it was, a dark shape flew at him.
Bang!
The heavy vase slammed into his shoulder. The bone cracked cleanly. The pain exploded through him.
His drunken fog vanished in an instant.
“You bastard! I’ll kill you! How dare you touch your stepmother?! Do you think I’m too old to deal with you now?”
Gresham’s eyes were blood–red, completely unhinged. He didn’t let Jasper get a word out. Punches and kicks rained down nonstop.
Only then did Jasper understand what they were accusing him of. He didn’t shout or struggle. He slowly lifted his bloodshot eyes, which were flushed from booze and pain. Then, he looked coldly at his furious father and then at Louise, who hid behind him with
fake tears.
“Dad.” His voice was rough from the pain but steady and sharp as he could see right through it all. “I can have any woman I want. Do you think I’d touch her? You’d rather believe a woman you’ve known for less than six months than listen to your own son?”
Gresham froze for a moment at the calm pushback, then his anger flared hotter. He jabbed a finger and shouted, “Listen to what? I saw the marks on Louise and the mess of this room! Are those fake? You dare do this and then deny it?”
“Deny it?” Jasper repeated, swallowing the pain in his shoulder. He pushed himself up on the bed, eyes sharp as knives, fixed on Louise. “Say it. Did I touch you?”
That icy stare made her flinch. She shrank closer to Gresham, crying louder. “Honey … look at him… He’s threatening me…”
“You brat! How dare you still threaten her?!” Gresham bellowed, raising his leg to kick again.
Jasper didn’t move. Using his uninjured hand, he yanked the blanket aside. He was still fully dressed–even his leather shoes were
“I was wasted and didn’t even take off my shoes. Clothes all neat,” he said, his voice quiet but slicing through the tension. “So tell me–how exactly did I force you? Or maybe you just like putting on a show in front of a completely drunk, out of it guy?”
Louise went pale. Fear flashed in her eyes. “You… you’re lying! You tried… tried to take off my clothes… I fought you-”
“Got any proof?” Jasper cut in coldly. His gaze scanned the messy sheets and her wrinkled clothes. “Other than what you staged yourself and that glass of water, what else? Do I have your nail marks? Scratches? Or anything that proves I assaulted you?”
He paused, eyes on Gresham’s darkening expression, then spoke with cruel calm. “Dad, you’ve been sharp. Don’t tell me you don’t see this. It’s a setup. She wants you to wipe me out so she and that bastard kid can take everything from you.”
“Shut up! Don’t insult Louise or our child!” Gresham trembled with rage. But seeing Jasper so calm, dressed neatly despite the

chaos, a tiny doubt crept in.
Seeing that, Louise clutched her stomach, groaning. “Ah… my belly… Honey, it hurts… Our baby…”

That snapped Gresham’s attention instantly. He rushed to hold her, panic rising. “Louise! What’s wrong? Don’t scare me!”
Jasper watched, bitter laughter stuck in his throat.
He eased off the bed, swallowing the deep pain in his shoulder, and straightened up.
