Chapter 283 Treating the Patient
Noelle listened quietly, then looked Mick dead in the eye. “I need to examine you.”

Mick stared right back at her, unmoved. A smirk slid across his face, arrogant and sharp. “Kid … are you even certified? Got your license yet? These legs are worth a small fortune. I don’t have time to let some rookie mess around with them.”
Franz’s expression shifted instantly, about to speak, but Noelle lifted her hand to stop him.
She raised her gaze and met Mick’s eyes under the shadow of his cap.
Those eyes might’ve been striking, but right now, they held nothing but cold detachment.
Noelle didn’t flinch. She stayed calm. “If you don’t trust me, Mr. Ferguson, feel free to leave. Make a right at the end of the hallway. Orthopedic urgent care is still open.”
Her voice didn’t waver. That made it hit even harder.
Mick choked for a moment. He hadn’t expected her to throw it back in his face like that.
Roger stepped in fast, trying to smooth it over. “Dr. Kain, please, don’t take it the wrong way! Mick’s just stressed! Mick, let her check it out, alright?”
Mick grunted but eventually moved to the exam bed. He laid down and rolled up his pant leg himself, pushing it above the knee.
Noelle stood and walked over. She took one look at the swelling, then reached out. Her fingers were cool against his skin as she pressed into his calf. She started at the ankle and worked her way up, slow and precise, feeling the muscle with care.
A few seconds later, she pulled her hand back.
“Well? Doctor?” Roger asked, tense and fidgeting.
“He’s overexerted the leg. If this keeps up, he’ll ruin it,” Noelle said in a steady, almost casual voice.
Roger froze in place.
He nearly screamed.
His leg might be ruined?
Ruined?
And she could just say that like it was nothing?
Mick’s grip tightened around his pant leg. His fingers were turning pale.
Ruined? His leg?
He was trying to play it cool, but there was no way he didn’t care.
That leg had carried his entire career. If it went down, everything would collapse with it.
Roger looked like he might cry, but Noelle spoke up again, still composed. “That being said, he’s lucky I caught it early. It’s not

hopeless. If we go with conservative treatment, he’ll be back on his feet in three months.”

Roger swayed, nearly losing his balance. He jolted from panic to relief so fast his voice cracked. “He can recover?! You can fix it in three months?! Dr. Kain, you’re serious, right? Three months–okay, forget the concert, we’ll take the loss! Just get him healed! As long as his leg’s alright!”
He was rambling, but none of that mattered. All that mattered was saving that leg. Money could be earned back.
Mick, though, lying there on the table, didn’t look even slightly reassured.
He went quiet for a moment. His eyes–the same ones his fans always said sparkled like starlight–locked onto Noelle, laser- focused. Then he asked something Roger never saw coming. “Dr. Kain, you said conservative treatment takes three months. What if I don’t want conservative?”
His tone was calm. Clear. Not reckless. Just serious.
Roger blinked in shock. “Mick, three months is already amazing! We’re not in any rush-”
“Roger,” Mick cut him off without even glancing his way. “I want to hear all the options. Dr. Kain, please.”
Noelle held his gaze.
The smugness from earlier had vanished. There was no hint of defiance or tension. Just a quiet, razor–sharp focus.
He was thinking it through. Really weighing his options. Looking for the move that wouldn’t just save his leg, but save his career.
“If you skip conservative treatment,” Noelle replied without missing a beat, “you’ll need a specialized injection protocol, paired with an intensive medicinal bath and high–strength topical patches. On top of that, daily rehab–targeted, aggressive, nonstop. It’s going to be rough. Especially the first three days. You’ll be in agony. Way worse than what you’re feeling now. You’ll need iron willpower to push through. But if you do… the recovery will be faster.”
“How much faster?” Mick asked, his fingers curling tight into the edge of the bed.
Noelle gave him a number that made Roger’s heart skip. “It’ll take seven days.”
The room felt like it dropped ten degrees.
