Inside the private room, Noelle couldn’t take another word.

Her voice wasn’t loud, but it cut through the air with an icy edge, cutting Chase off mid–rant.

Chase froze. “Ms. Guzman, I’m doing this for your own good…”

“For my own good?” Noelle lifted her gaze, sharp as a blade, fixing it on him. “Who do you think you are, judging my husband? You’re not even qualified to mention him.”

Chase was stunned by her sudden pressure and fell silent.

The next second, Noelle raised her hand.

A crisp, vicious slap landed squarely on Chase’s face.

His head snapped to the side, his cheek burning. He clutched his face, eyes wide in disbelief. “Y–you hit me?”

“So what if I did?”

Noelle lowered her hand, looking down at him with cold contempt. “That slap was to teach you to shut your mouth. You don’t get to comment what kind of person my husband is. If I hear even one more word about him come out of your mouth, it won’t stop at just a slap.”

With that, she didn’t spare Chase another glance. She turned around and walked out of the room without looking back.

It took Chase a long moment to react. His face went livid as he shook with rage.

He rushed out after her, but Noelle was already gone.

Fuming, he yanked at his tie and pulled out his phone, calling his mother as he stormed out of the private room. “Mom! Who does that Noelle think she is? Some country bumpkin who was just taken back as a Guzmans‘ daughter, acting like she’s somebody important! She actually dared to hit me! Is this how the Guzmans raise their daughter? I’m not doing this blind date anymore. It’s disgusting!”

He was in the middle of cursing when his vision suddenly went dark.

A rough burlap sack dropped over his head without warning, covering his entire upper body.

“Who the hell–ahh!”

Heavy blows came down immediately, ruthless and precise, aimed at the meatiest spots. The pain was blinding. He screamed like a pig, but with the sack over his head, the sounds came out muffled and ugly.

In the shadows of the hallway, Ethan leaned against the cold wall, expressionless as he watched the sack writhing on the floor.

“If you can’t keep your mouth clean, you’d better learn fast,” he said quietly, his voice chilling. “The Guzmans‘ daughter isn’t someone you get to gossip about. And Sebastian is a name trash like you doesn’t deserve to say.

“If I ever see you bothering Ms. Charlotte again, or hear you badmouthing Sebastian, I’ll beat you every single time.”

Noelle left the private room with her chest still tight with anger.

Being tricked into a blind date by her own mother in such a disgusting way, and then being forced to listen to that stream of filth about Sebastian, had completely wrecked her mood.

She had just reached the roadside to hail a cab when her phone rang again.
