Alright,Angus said, nodding as he looked at Noelle with gentle affection. Noey, remember thisno matter what happens, your grandpa and your uncles will always be your strongest support.

Noelle smiled, warmth flickering in her eyes.

I know. Grandpa and my uncles are the best.

Theodore was still unconscious, but Noelle had already examined him carefully.

Although his awareness had not returned, his brain’s basic auditory functions were likely still intact, and he should still be able to faintly register voices from the outside world.

Because of that, Noelle and Sebastian stayed at the Menzie estate.

In Mr. Theodore’s current condition, he needs stimulation from familiar voices,Noelle said to Sebastian and Ethan. You’re his grandsonsblood matters. Spend more time by his bedside. Talk to him. Tell him stories from the past, or about your lives now. It might help wake his consciousness and bring him back sooner.

So, the two brothers began taking turns sitting by the old man’s bed and talking to him.

Onlythe way these two brothers got along was still painfully awkward.

That afternoon, it was Ethan’s turn.

He sat in the chair by the bed, holding an old photo album, awkwardly explaining the origins of the blurry photographs in a low

voice.

He had never been good with words, and he was even worse at emotional expression, so everything he said came out stiff and dry. Just then, the door was pushed open softly. Ethan looked up and saw Sebastian walk in, a cup of warm water in his hand. When Sebastian noticed Ethan inside, his steps paused, and thinking Ethan didn’t want to be disturbed, he gave a slight nod and said quietly, You stay with Grandpa. I’ll come back later.

With that, he turned to leave.

Something about that distant restraint suddenly sparked a nameless irritation in Ethan’s chest.

He snapped the album shut with a sharp clap, his voice edged with irritation, he hadn’t even noticed himself. What, you really don’t want to see me that badly? You won’t even step inside?

Sebastian froze for a moment, then understood.

He didn’t explain, simply walked back in, set the cup on the bedside table, and thencasuallyclosed the door.

That only made Ethan angrier.

Closing the doorwhat was that supposed to mean? Did it mean that he was being noisy, or that sharing the same room made Sebastian uncomfortable?

His chest rose and fell twice before he finally said nothing. He stood up, face cold, and walked out, leaving the space to Sebastian and their grandfather.

Downstairs, Ethan still felt stifled, so he headed straight toward the kitchen, planning to grab a glass of water.

Just as he reached the kitchen doorway, he heard the staff discussing dinner preparations inside.

Ethan paused, then, almost unconsciously, walked in and said to the cook, For dinnerSebastian doesn’t eat cilantro. Don’t put it in any of the dishes.

The cook quickly nodded. Yes, Mr. Ethan, got it.”

A soft chuckle floated in from the side.

Ethan turned his head and saw Noelle standing at the kitchen entrance, arms folded, smiling at him with a teasing glint in her eyes. You remember my husband’s preferences pretty clearly.”

Ethan’s face heated instantly, and he looked away, his tone stiff. Who remembers that? I justhappened to think of it. I mentioned it casually. Didn’t want food to go to waste.

With that, he bolted upstairs like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, leaving Noelle behind, amused as she shook her head.

When it was time for dinner, everyone gradually came downstairs.

Ethan arrived a bit later and saw Sebastian and Noelle already seated side by side. The seat on Sebastian’s other side was still empty.

Ethan’s gaze lingered on that spot for a brief second, a strange discomfort flickering through him, but his feet still carried him over.

Just as he reached out to pull the chair-

Whoosh!

A figure suddenly darted in from the side and dropped straight into the seat.

It was Lucas.

No one knew when he had shown up, but there he was, sitting snugly beside Sebastian.

Man, I’m starving! Let’s eat, let’s eat!

Lucas grabbed his spoon and fork and boldly helped himself to a dish, stuffing it into his mouth as he spoke through a chew.
