Chapter 393 Waiting In Line
Maisy had been sticking close to Steve mostly just to get some extra camera time.

When she noticed things were getting lively around Jeffrey and Noelle–especially with Mick glancing over more than once–she felt a sting of jealousy.
She thought for a second, then walked over with a sweet, innocent smile. Her tone, though, carried a faint probe and a touch of condescension. “Dr. Kain, you’re so young and already so talented. Mind sharing which top med school you went to?”
Noelle glanced at her, her voice flat. “Just a regular university.”
A look of disdain flickered in Maisy’s eyes, but her smile grew wider. “Oh, a regular university, huh? Well, for Dr. Kain to make it on this show, and for Mr. Salinger to speak so highly of you, you must really be something special.”
Listen to all her digs at Dr. Kain! Hmph!
Mick caught that and shot Maisy a cold, warning glare.
Maisy stiffened under that look. She quickly shrank back and shut up, not daring to keep sniping.
But Mick wasn’t about to let it go. His voice was cool as he spoke. “Since Ms. Greene seems so skeptical of Dr. Kain’s skills, maybe you’d like to experience them firsthand? Dr. Kain, would you mind giving Ms. Greene a checkup?”
Maisy’s expression changed, and she waved her hands. “No, no, that’s fine! I feel great. There’s no need to trouble Dr. Kain!”
Jeffrey was never one to miss a chance to stir things up. He nudged her into the exam chair and said, “Come on, Maisy, just try it out! Dr. Kain is really good at this!”
Stuck with no way out, Maisy forced a smile and stuck out her wrist.
Noelle didn’t refuse. She gently took Maisy’s pulse.
After a moment, she let go and said calmly, “You’re holding onto a lot of stress and frustration. Your liver’s a bit overworked. You overthink things, get upset easily, and have a short temper. Your sleep isn’t great, and your period’s probably irregular too.”
Maisy’s smile froze.
She had always presented herself as pure, gentle, and sweet. Noelle’s words cut straight through her carefully crafted façade.
She shot back immediately, “Dr. Kain, that can’t be right. Everyone knows I have a great temper. And my sleep’s… fine. You must be mistaken.”
Her voice was full of annoyance and disbelief.
Noelle said nothing. She just looked at her with a cool and distant gaze.
Right then, Steve finished up with a patient and had a moment free.
Mick spoke up again, not loud but firm. “Ms. Greene, if you doubts Dr. Kain’s diagnosis, maybe Dr. Mayer can give you a second opinion?”
Maisy’s face turned pale.

Chapter 393 Waiting In Line
Let Dr. Mayer check my pulse?
What if he says the same thing…
But with everyone watching and Jefferey laying it all out, Maisy couldn’t say no.
Jeffrey egged her on, and she had no choice but to sit down in front of Steve.
Steve, already unimpressed with Noelle, went into full–on professional mode.
He carefully took Maisy’s pulse, looked at her tongue, and asked a few questions.

After a while, Steve let go and frowned, his tone serious. “Dr. Kain was right. You’re definitely dealing with a lot of stress and frustration. Your emotions swing pretty hard, you get irritated and anxious easily, and you overthink things a lot.
“If this keeps up, it will not only mess with your sleep and your period–it will throw off your hormones, bring out skin problems, and it could even affect your heart. You really need to work on your temper, or you’ll be dealing with a lot more health problems down the road.”
Steve’s words were even blunter than Noelle’s and spelled out exactly what could go wrong.
Maisy’s face flushed red and then turned pale. She was totally mortified on camera, wishing she could sink through the floor.
There went her “sweet and easygoing” persona, right down the drain–and her grudge against Noelle only deepened.
