Sebastian said, “Grandpa was in good spirits today. He mentioned you a few times and said he’s going to be the first to watch your show when it airs.”
Noelle couldn’t stop smiling. She chatted with him for a while longer, reminding him to take care of himself and telling him she’d be back in a couple of days.
“Yeah. You too. Take care of yourself while you’re over there. Don’t make me worry. I miss you.”
Noelle saw those last three words and smiled, then typed back, “Me too.”
Besides Sebastian, Angus, Jonathan, Alina, and even a few of Noelle’s uncles and cousins all messaged her.
They all wanted to know how the first day of filming went, if she was doing okay, and if she needed anyone from the family to come help out.
Noelle replied to each message, letting them know she was fine.
In the living room of Guzman’s Residence, Angus, Jonathan, Alina, and several of Noelle’s uncles were gathered.
“I just hope Noey’s getting used to things over there. Life in the country isn’t easy,” Angus said, looking worried.
“Dad, don’t worry,” Brian reassured him. “It’s Mr. Salinger’s show–the conditions won’t be that bad. And Noey’s not the delicate type.”
Jonathan was more concerned with something else. “I heard Mick is one of the guests this time. He’s got a good reputation. If he’s around, he’ll keep an eye on Noey.”
Alina didn’t say anything. She scrolled through her phone, hoping for some behind–the–scenes updates.
Mary sat on the couch, phone in hand, a gentle smile on her face. She looked happier than usual.
She was chatting with Viola, who always knew how to say the right thing. Mary was clearly pleased by the conversation.
It was a warmth she’d never really felt with Noelle–something she seemed to get from Viola now.
Angus, seeing her so cheerful, assumed she was thinking of Noelle too. It made him feel a little more at ease.
Looks like after what happened last time, she really does care about her daughter deep down.
He softened his tone and said, “Don’t just sit there smiling at your phone–send Noey a message and check on her, You’re her mother. She needs to know you care,”
Mary startled at being called out, and she instinctively pulling her phone closer. She looked a little flustered, then realized what Angus meant and quickly nodded. “Oh… right, I should check in. I’ll do that now.”
She sent Noelle a quick, half–hearted message, then went straight back to chatting with Viola.
Angus watched and frowned.

Out in the countryside, the night was quiet, and the air was fresh.
Noelle was feeling restless in her room, so she threw on a jacket and stepped outside for some fresh air.
Moonlight poured over the stone path.
She wandered to the corner of the yard under an old tree and spotted someone leaning against the trunk, muffling a cough.
It was Dalton.
Noelle didn’t know him well–she just remembered he was a singer who’d kept to himself all day, barely saying a word during filming.
As she came closer in the moonlight, she could see the furrow in his brow. He didn’t look well.
“Mr. Randall, is your throat bothering you?” Noelle asked.
Dalton jumped a little, then dropped his hand and turned around. He looked surprised to see her but he nodded politely and answered with a hoarse voice. “Dr. Kain. It’s nothing, just a chronic sore throat. I probably caught a cold today.”
Noelle gave him a quick once–over and pulled a small, porcelain bottle from her bag, handing it over. “I’ve got some pills that help with sore throats and irritation. Try sucking on one–they should make you feel a bit better.”
Dalton stared at the bottle, surprised.
He’d seen the way Steve and Maisy looked down on Noelle earlier, but for some reason, he didn’t have any bad feelings toward this calm, collected young doctor.
Her offering made him feel genuinely grateful.
“Thank you, Dr. Kain,” he said, taking the bottle.
Just then, a sharp female voice cut in. “Dalton! Don’t just take random medicine!”
Maisy had shown up without anyone noticing. “You’re a singer! Your voice is your life! How can you just take some random pills from someone? What if it’s bad for you? You don’t even know what’s in there!”
She was clearly hinting that Noelle’s pills were sketchy–maybe even dangerous.
Dalton’s brow furrowed with annoyance.
