She was taken by strangers. She grew up in a cold home. She was bullied, gnored, and forced to struggle just to survive.” Her gaze never left Alina. “And while she suffered, the sister who abandoned her ived comfortably at home. She attended the best schools. Live the best life. Complaining about the pressure of being the eldest daughter.”

Each word hit like a blow. This impact was felt not only by Alina, but also by everyone present in the room.

“You think life was unfair to you?” Noelle gave a cold laugh. “But was it fair to me?”

She had suffered abuse for twenty years. Was that fair?
