She turned her head and raised one eyebrow. Her voice finally showed a hint of interest. “Lucas? Then you must be Jaylee?”
Jaylee froze for a second. Then joy rushed through her chest.
She knows me!
So it’s true. Everyone in Kingstowne must already know I’m Lucas’s girlfriend.
“Yes, that’s right. I’m Jaylee.” She straightened her back. Her tone sounded calm, but the pride in her eyes was hard to hide. “Since you know who I am, this will be easy. Give me the necklace.”
Her friends quickly joined in. “Yeah! Now you’re scared, right? Hurry up and give it to Jaylee!”
Noelle didn’t answer.
She lowered her eyes and looked at the necklace in her hand.
She had carefully picked it as a gift for Lucas’s girlfriend.
Then she smiled.
It was a faint smile. A little amused, like the world was suddenly very small. And a little speechless.
Lucas, is there something wrong with your taste? What kind of girlfriend did you pick?
All her effort, all the thought she put into choosing this gift, suddenly felt like a waste.
Noelle instantly lost interest.
“Fine.” She pushed the necklace forward. “You can have it.”
Jaylee’s eyes lit up.
“Double price, right?” Noelle said calmly. “This necklace costs 1.5 million. Double is three million. Wire me the
money.”
Noelle wasn’t making up a price. The necklace really was 1.5 million. The extra? That was the price of Jaylee’s attitude.
Jaylee’s smile froze.
3 million?
She only had about one million left in her bank account. She had just spent a lot of money buying things for her friends.
She thought the necklace would cost maybe a few tens of thousands. A hundred thousand at most. She could bite the bullet and pay for it, then ask Lucas to reimburse her later.
But three million…
“What’s wrong?” Noelle looked at her changing expression, her voice calm. “You just say you would pay double? Or you don’t have the money?”

Chapter 457 Paying the Price
The words were light, but they bruised Jaylee’s pride.
Jayless’s friends looked at one another. The mood suddenly became awkward.
“Maybe we should just forget it,” one of them said softly.
“Yeah. It’s so expensive.”
The color slowly rose in Jaylee’s face, then faded again.
She clenched her teeth and forced out a smile. “Of course, I have the money, 3 million is nothing.”
She swiped her credit card. As the numbers flashed across the screen, her heart felt like it was sinking
But when she saw the admiring looks on her friends‘ faces again, she pushed the pain down.
It’s fine.
She had Lucas.
He bought her a car worth five million without blinking. What was three million? She would just ask him to pay later.
Across the room, Noelle put away her phone. 3 million has just been transferred into her account.
She was in a good mood. For once, she gave Jaylee a sincere smile. “That was quick. The necklace is yours.”
Then she walked away without looking back.

Jaylee held the necklace. It felt strangely hot in her hands. Something felt wrong, but she couldn’t figure out what it was.
“Jaylee, that woman just now…” one of the girls said, staring at Noelle’s back as she left. She frowned thoughtfully. “Why do I feel like she looks familiar? I swear I’ve seen her somewhere before.”
“Maybe she’s some internet influencer,” another girl said casually. “Anyway, she’s not as impressive as Jaylee. Look at what she’s wearing. There isn’t even a brand logo.”
.“True.”
The shop assistant gave Jaylee a very strange look.
What a group of fools! They had no idea who they had just offended.
She shook her head at the bunch of idiots, and then she hurried outside. When she caught up with Noelle, she bowed slightly, nervous and respectful. “Boss, I’m so sorry. It was our mistake. We shouldn’t have let someone like that disturb you.”
“The store is open to everyone,” Noelle said calmly. “It’s not your fault.” She pulled out a card and handed it to her. “There’s 1.5 million in this. Consider it a year–end bonus for the staff.”
The shop assistant’s eyes went wide.
What?! Something this good could actually happen?
