Viola stood there, staring at Jasper’s calm, unreadable face. The hatred in her chest grew fast, like a snake coiling tighter and
tighter.
But she didn’t dare say another word. She clenched her teeth and walked out.
A few minutes later, Noelle came in.
She stopped at the door and glanced at the man lying weak on the bed. Her face showed nothing.
‘You want to see me?”
Jasper looked at her, his gaze complicated.
He thought about the soup from earlier. The small, secret joy he had felt when it was brought in.
She had finally shown some care for him. She had finally sent him a bowl of soup.
He had drunk it slowly, savoring every sip like it was something precious.
And in the end?
She wanted him dead.
“That soup…” he said, his voice hoarse. “Did you already know something was wrong with it?”
Noelle didn’t answer.
Jasper kept looking at her. There was pain in his eyes, a hint of self–mockery, and a stubborn hope that refused to die. “You’re a doctor. You’re sensitive to smells. You had it brought to me because you knew it was poisoned, right?”
Noelle stayed silent for a few seconds.
Then she nodded.
“Yes.”
The light in Jasper’s eyes went out in an instant.
Like the last spark of a fire, doused by cold water.
“You really want me dead?” he asked softly, almost like a sigh.
Noelle suddenly smiled.
There was mockery in that smile. Coldness too. And something harder to name.
“Jasper,” she said, slow and clear, “there are plenty of people in this house who want me dead too”

Chapter 506 The Poison Was Meant for You
“You stepped out?” Jasper’s voice turned colder. “So someone could have gone into the kitchen during that time.”
The maid nodded through sobs. “Just for a minute… I didn’t think…”
Jasper fell silent.
The room grew deadly quiet. Only the maid’s muffled crying could be heard.
“At that time,” Jasper said slowly, “were you the only one in the kitchen?”
The maid nodded again.
“When you stepped out,” Jasper continued, staring at her, “who could have gone in?”

The maid thought for a second, then cried even harder. “I don’t know… I really don’t… There was no one guarding the kitchen….. anyone could’ve gone in…”
Jasper closed his eyes briefly.
When he opened them again, he looked at Gunner.
“Gather everyone in the house,” he said, word by word. “Bring them to the living room.”
Gunner hesitated. “Everyone?”
“Everyone,” Jasper repeated firmly. “Not a single person missing.”
Gunner nodded. “Yes, boss.”
He turned and left.
The room fell quiet again.
Noelle leaned against the doorframe, watching the pale man forcing himself to sit up.
“You really going to investigate?” she asked.
Jasper looked at her.
“Someone tried to kill you,” he said. “If I don’t look into it, should I just wait for them to try again?”
Noelle didn’t reply.
Jasper kept watching her. There was something in his eyes she couldn’t quite understand.
“I told you,” he said softly, “no one in this house is allowed to hurt you.”
Noelle held his gaze for a few seconds.
Then she looked away, out the window.
“Do whatever you want.“”

Noelle didn’t move. She looked at her calmly.
“I poisoned him?”
“That soup–you were the one who had it delivered!” Viola stepped forward, her finger almost jabbing into Noelle’s face. “Who else could it be?! You’ve been tormenting us every day, pushing the guards around, ordering Jasper like he’s your servant. You’ve gone this fari Noelle, are you even human?!”
Noelle stayed still. She simply lifted her eyes and looked at Viola’s twisted, excited face.
“Where’s your proof?”
“Proof? The soup is the proof!”
Viola’s voice shook–not from fear, but from excitement. She had finally caught her chance. “Jasper treated you so well, and you still did this! Guards! Shoot her on the spot! Now!”
