“I think so too,” Noelle nodded.

“What time is the appointment?” Sebastian asked.

“Nine tomorrow morning.”

Sebastian thought for a moment. “Then tomorrow, I’ll have Primo and Duo go with you.”

Early the next morning, at the Jensen Residence.

Yvette was already waiting at the front gate. As soon as she saw Noelle, she rushed over to meet her.

“Ms. Kain, you’re here! Thank you for coming so early. My younger sister is in her room. I’ll take you there.”

Noelle gave a slight nod and followed her inside.

Just as they stepped into the courtyard, a sharp, mocking voice sounded from the side.

“Oh? Yvette, who did you bring back this time?”

A middle–aged couple walked out quickly and blocked their path.

The smile on Yvette’s face disappeared. “Uncle Anthony, Aunt Eliana.”

Anthony stood there acting like a powerful elder and didn’t speak. However, Eliana looked Noelle up and down with sharp eyes and let out a little laugh.

“Yvette, who is this?”

“She is the doctor I invited to treat my sister.”

“Her? A doctor?” Anthony immediately laughed out loud. “Yvette, I know you’re desperate to help Madeline, but you can’t just grab anyone off the street! How old is this girl? Is she even 20 yet? What could she possibly know about medicine?”

“That’s right, Yvette,” Eliana added. She sounded worried, but she was actually making fun of her. “No matter how rushed you are, you shouldn’t just bring anyone into the house. If something happens to Madeline because of her, wouldn’t you be hurting her?”

Her tone suddenly shifted, her voice lowered but still clear.

“Besides, she’s your only family left now. If something happens to her too, wouldn’t you truly be all alone? People outside already say that someone like you, whose parents died early, is cursed to bring harm to family members.”

“Hey, don’t talk like that!” Anthony pretended to stop his wife. He turned to Yvette with a fake smile. “I am just looking out for you. Aren’t we your family? I’m your uncle!”

He looked at Noelle again with disgust.

“But this girl clearly doesn’t know anything about medicine. Don’t let her trick you! Hurry up, kick this fraud out of here!”

Eliana was so angry she hit her husband. “She’s just an ungrateful brat! She won’t give us the company or the villa, and all she does is make us angry! She’s literally wishing for us to die early!”

Anthony’s face darkened too. “That brat! Come on, let’s go inside. I don’t believe that a little girl who hasn’t even grown up yet can actually cure anyone!”

“Ms. Kain, I’m sorry you had to see that,” Yvette said bitterly.

“It’s fine,” Noelle shook her head. On the contrary, she liked Yvette’s personality. People had to be strong in this world, especially in Yvette’s situation. If she were weak, she would only be bullied and wouldn’t even be able to protect her own family.

Primo and Duo followed closely behind Noelle, guarding her at all times.

Yvette led Noelle to the second floor, to Madeline’s room.

Two maids stood at the door. When they saw Yvette, they bowed respectfully. “Ms. Yvette.”

“Is Madeline still refusing to come out?”

“We told her that you brought a doctor today, but after hearing that, she became even angrier and locked herself in her room.”

Yvette shook her head helplessly. She asked Noelle to wait for a moment while she knocked on the door. “Madeline, it’s me, Yvette.”

“The doctor is here. Open the door and let the doctor take a look, alright?”

There was no response from inside.

Yvette instructed the maids, “Bring the key.”

The maid quickly brought the key and handed it to her. Yvette inserted the key into the lock and opened the door.

The room was pitch black. The curtains were tightly closed, and the lights were off. Not a single bit of light could be seen.

Just as Yvette stepped inside with Noelle, an angry shout came from within.
