Lucas looked straight at Noelle. Their eyes met, and both of them saw the same firmness and determination.
Lucas breathed out slowly, then laughed. “You always pull off surprises when no one expects it. Maybe this time, you’ll do it again.
“If you need anything from me, just say it. We’ll handle this together. We can get Sebastian back on his feet.”
Noelle smiled. “Deal.”
The two of them kept talking inside the room, not knowing that Sebastian had heard everything from outside the door.
He sat quietly in his wheelchair, listening. A soft glow appeared in his brown eyes.
Having a friend like Lucas was a blessing.
And Noelle…
Maybe his life wasn’t that bad after all.
That night, Noelle went out by herself to Gallows Market.
She was on her way to Alliance 749 to collect herbs.
She already had the most important one–Wanderroot. The rest were ordinary herbs, just better quality at Alliance 749.
Since they planned to return to Riverdale before starting treatment, she wanted everything ready ahead of time.
“Help! Please help! Mandy! Mandy!”
A sharp scream suddenly rang out.
Noelle followed the sound and found it was someone she knew.
A man was half–kneeling on the ground. A girl in a white dress lay in front of him, her body shaking violently.
The man looked panicked, yelling his sister’s name again and again.
Noelle walked over and stopped behind him.
He was so focused on his sister that he didn’t even notice her.
“Move.”
Noelle kicked him squarely in the back.
Daniel spun around in shock and froze when he saw her.
“Ms. Kain…”
“If you want your sister to live, get out of the way,” Noelle said calmly.

Daniel looked at her, then at his sister struggling to breathe, and hurriedly stepped aside.
Noelle squatted down and checked Mandy Leighton’s pulse.
“She has a congenital heart condition?” she asked.
Daniel nodded quickly. “Yes!”
Noelle didn’t ask anything else. She took out her needles and quickly placed them near Mandy’s heart.

“This was a heart attack. The chest pain and vomiting came with it. If I’d been any later, she would’ve suffocated. I’ll steady her heart meridian with needles.”
Her movements were smooth and precise as the needles went in. Color slowly returned to Mandy’s pale face, and her pain eased. She weakly opened her eyes.
“Mandy!” Daniel grabbed her, overwhelmed with relief.
“Daniel…” Mandy gasped. She knew she had been close to death, and she knew Noelle had saved her.
She looked at Noelle with deep gratitude and struggled to bow. “Thank you so much.”
Daniel quickly followed up, “Thank you, Ms. Kain!”
His expression toward Noelle was complicated.
He already knew he had misunderstood her.
What happened to Madeline had nothing to do with Noelle. She wasn’t a fraud at all. On the contrary, she was a true miracle doctor. Without her, Madeline would’ve died long ago.
“Since she’s fine, I’ll be going.”
Noelle stood up, ready to leave.
“Ms. Kain!”
Daniel called out behind her. “I’m sorry!”
Noelle stopped.
