Adrian pointed at Riven, his lips puckering and trembling, his face the very picture of comic despair-like that of someone on the verge of tears but too stunned to cry.
“You… You’re all bullying me! Two of you already have kids, one of you doesn’t even want to mate, another is guaranteed to have a daughter for his first child, and in the end, I’m the only unlucky one left. If I hadn’t been trying so hard o be the first to mate with Ms. Crawford, I wouldn’t have been scared into going limp. If I hadn’t gone limp, I wouldn’t be the last one. The whole world is picking on me! I’m done with this life!”
With that, Adrian turned and bolted out the door.
Annelise thought, Here we go again.
“Hey, I wasn’t wrong, all right? And don’t get mad. If you do, you might not be cured until next year!”
Those words hit Adrian like a cruel final blow from behind.
Why was he always so unlucky?
When he was little, he ate more than others and was stronger than anyone else. Aside from his parents and siblings, the rest of the tribe had been afraid of him.
Now that he was grown, he had finally found a matriarch he liked-one who wasn’t afraid of him. But she was so outstanding that everyone else wanted her too.
I really wish my matriarch were mine alone!
Adrian thought all this as he ran.
Hudson asked Annelise, “Ms. Crawford, should we go after Adrian? Last time he ran away from home…”
Annelise waved her hand.
“No. This time is different from last time. Don’t worry.”
No one was hurting him this time.
Before long, Annelise got up and ate her first meal of the day.
For the next ten days, Evan would be the one staying with her at night, taking care of her and making sure she slept well.

Chapter 145 Uninvited Kin
Rokky was in high spirits.
Even though he hadn’t mated and had no children of his own, Annelise had many children- and there was a girl. That meant their family would thrive in the future.
He liked Annelise, and naturally, he wanted what was best for her.
Annelise looked at him and asked, “Rokky, do you like kids?”
Rokky lowered his head and nodded.
Annelise wasn’t surprised. Of course he liked children.
After all, he had once taken care of the Chief’s cubs.
“Then, when I have a second child with someone, and they can’t manage everything, would you help look after them?”
Annelise genuinely liked this way of giving birth.
Her figure wouldn’t change, she barely felt anything, and there was no pain at all.
After ten days, the males took over the caregiving, and she still got to enjoy the feeling of having given birth herself.
She really did give birth, after all. She was involved every step of the way.
Who wouldn’t love this kind of reproduction?
Rokky hurriedly shook his head. “I’ll see… I’m afraid I might scare the cubs. Let’s talk about it later.”
Just then, someone knocked on the courtyard door.
This time, Riven took the initiative to open it, looking every bit like a male bound by a bond.
“Who are you looking for?”
“We’re here to see Hudson. Oh my, Mr. Hollander, so you really are living here too.”
After the male spoke, a female chimed in, “Of course he is. Are you stupid? Mr. Hollander openly said he wants to be bonded to Annelise. If he’s not living here, where else would he live?”
The male and female squeezed their way inside.
Annelise noticed that they were middle-aged, about the same age as the Chief-perhaps even

She didn’t recognize them at all.

Hudson, however, stood up, both puzzled and surprised. “Dad? Mom? Why are you here?”
“Of course we had to come,” his father said. “Little fox, your matriarch is Annelise. We should’ve come long ago.”
“That’s right,” his mother added. “We’ve just been busy. We were hunting recently and didn’t have the time.”
Hudson’s father, Thomas Brooks, carried two chickens. His mother, Catherine Rose, had baskets strapped to both her front and back.
They were filled to the brim with dried wild greens.
“Here you go. This is just a little something we brought as a gift.”
They tried to stuff the gifts into Annelise’s hands. She refused outright.
When people showed up bearing gifts for no reason, it was never anything good.
Besides, two chickens? She could grab five or six from her own backyard without trying.
As for wild greens, she had more than enough growing hydroponically.
Thomas went straight to Hudson and asked, “Have you continued your bloodline with your matriarch?”
Hudson nodded.
Thomas immediately beamed with joy.
“Then is your cub female or male?”
