Chapter 183 Finding the Traps
That b*stard shaman wasn’t just targeting male shifters.
Every single move she made was intentional.
She wasn’t dumb. She was just plain evil!

“What if most of the other tribes’ shifters find out I’m one of the Four Calamities and come to hunt me
down?”
Fighting. Stomping. Bodies crashing to the ground….
Wouldn’t that trigger some kind of trap and knock a bunch of shifters out of commission?
Annelise looked around again. This place really did seem like the only way through if someone were trying
to escape.
Once she pieced it together, she said bluntly, “I need Mr. Allen to call a full-tribe meeting. Everyone needs to be there.”
Right after that, she looked down and saw Riven trying to sit up.
Blood poured from the wound on his arm.
At first, it was bright red. Then it turned darker.
“This arrow’s poisoned!”
“Riven, stop moving! I’ll take care of it. Hold still. I’ll wrap it up first!”
Annelise scanned the area. No animals. No herbs. Nothing useful around here.
If that woman brewed the poison herself, and her original body was a snake, then snake venom would’ve been easy for her to get.
Should she… suck the poison out of his arm?
She hadn’t even made up her mind when Riven spoke first.
“I’ll be fine. You don’t need to worry. I can raise my body temperature to burn it out.”
As he said that, heat rolled off him in waves.
Of course he wouldn’t burn himself alive.
Ever since their bonding, Riven had become even better at controlling fire. Now he could even keep his clothes from burning.
Still…
Annelise looked worried.
“Most snake venom does break down with heat. The proteins and enzymes get destroyed.
“But there are rare types that aren’t heat-sensitive. If it’s one of those, your body might not handle it.”

She didn’t even care if Riven was listening. She glanced around again, but there wasn’t a single spot nearby that could block wind or rain.
So she turned to the little goat and said, “Go back to camp right now. Tell the High Priest no one is allowed to come near this clearing.
“And tell him to meet me at the cave down by the cliff.”
The goat saw the blood and looked like he was about to try.
He started sniffling and wiping his nose, confused and scared.
Annelise said gently, “Go on. I’m helping the guy. I can’t leave right now.
“You’ve got this, sweetheart. I believe in you!”
Just like that, the little goat took off like a roaring motorbike.
Right before he disappeared into the trees, he shouted back, “I-I can do it!”
Riven, somehow still in the mood to joke, said, “The guy We have about the same age gap as you and the High Priest.”
“Ugh, whatever. Let’s just head down to the bottom of the cliff. Can you still fly?”
Riven nodded.
“It’s not affecting my flight.”
He actually felt fine. No dizziness, no weakness.
Probably meant the venom had already burned out.
Annelise didn’t buy it.
She had a feeling that shaman woman wasn’t the type to use basic snake venom.
So she said, “Then get to the cave where we first met.
“I’ll climb down on my own. I promise I’ll be quick-hey! Hey! Stop!”
Mid-sentence, Riven scooped her up under her arms and launched into the air.
“Riven! Your arm’s injured! You can’t carry me like this. Stop! Put me down!”
But Riven insisted he was fine.
He really didn’t think it was a big deal, but she wasn’t wrong to worry. If he collapsed, it’d affect the whole tribe.
Annelise thought to herself, Worried about the tribe?
You’re the one who got hurt protecting me. I’m worried about ou!
And your arm is injured! You shouldn’t be lifting me like I weigh nothing!
