That finalled Adrian into motion. He turned to run, but immediately crashed into Hudson.

Hudson had a

tray loaded with grilled meat. He barely kept it from flipping.

“Dude! Watch where you’re going!”

Adrian snapped. “Why bother?! Doesn’t matter now. We’ve already got a second one going feral.”

Annelise didn’t hear a word of that. Her focus was locked on the food.

She tore into it like she hadn’t eaten in days.

Her pace was so wild, she choked. The chunk stuck halfway down her throat, refusing to budge.

Hudson and Adrian both panicked, but Riven moved first.

He grabbed her and pulled her into his arms, gently thumping her back.

Off to the side, Adrian nudged Hudson with his elbow. Then he leaned in, shielding his mouth behind one of his oversized bunny ears.

His ears were long and floppy, soft enough to droop down past his chin. Big enough to hide behind if you wanted to whisper and not get caught.

Adrian clearly did.

“Dude. You seeing this?”

“They weren’t this close before. And now he’s calling her Ms. Crawford? When did that start? Something definitely went down while they were out there.”

Hudson noticed it too. The way Riven and Annelise moved around each other now? Way more familiar.
