Chapter 104 Wiped Out
The snow fell heavier and thicker by the hour.
In just one night, more than three feet of snow covered the ground.

The temperature was so low that the snow froze the moment it landed, turning rock hard as it fused with the ice below.
Autumn glanced at the thermometer. It had already dropped past -148 F and reached -166/F.
To be honest, weather like this simply wasn’t fit for people to be outdoors.
Anyone who went outside would be as good as dead.
Because of that, Leonel had everyone retreat into the cave, cranking up the heat. Every aspect of daily life -food, water, sanitation, and shelter-was fully supplied.
In such brutal conditions, consuming high-calorie food was essential for survival.
So the cafeteria had been serving especially hearty meals these past few days.
High in sugar, fat, and protein-anything filling that helped people stay warm.
The same went for Autumn.
David cooked without holding back, preparing one meat dish after another. They sat around the fire, each with a large plate, eating to their hearts’ content.
Once they were stuffed, they just lay back comfortably.
Life couldn’t get any cozier.
“Autumn, when is this extreme cold ever going to end?” David asked, staring out at the impenetrable blanket of snow. “Hasn’t it been half a year already?”
“Soon.” Autumn did the math in her head. “It should be within the next few days. You can start getting the summer clothes ready again. And prepare the gas masks and hazmat suits while you’re at it.”
David bolted upright, staring at her in shock. “Wait, what? Gas masks? Hazmat suits? I can understand going from extreme cold to extreme heat, but gas masks and hazmat suits? Is it what I think it means?”
“It’s exactly what you think.” Autumn nodded. “Once the extreme cold ends, there won’t be a transition period. It’ll plunge straight into extreme heat. This heat wave will completely melt the polar ice caps, unleashing ancient dormant viruses. Every carbon-based organism on this planet will get infected. It spreads fast, and it kills even faster. Once infected, a person has at most two weeks to live. In my past life, this plague wiped out three whole countries. Not a single soul survived.”
David couldn’t sit still a second longer. He immediately got up and started gathering supplies.
He believed every word Autumn said.
What Autumn didn’t tell him was that the coming extreme heat wouldn’t just bring viruses and plague. It would also bring venomous insects.
Under the virus’s control, those creatures would mutate, turning into hideous creatures humanity had never seen before. D
This upcoming ordeal would be a battle of mental fortitude.
