Autumn gave Willa a complicated look. “Has it ever crossed your mind that I only went to Leonel’s cave for the food?”

“Oh, so Mr. Wright can have you instead, huh?!” Willa shot back.

This time. Leonel was the one coughing. “Ahem! Stop making things up!”

He quickly glanced at Autumn.

Autumn simply spread her hands. “If that’s what you want to believe, I can’t stop you. But if you’re saying was the one harassing you, that doesn’t make sense.”

“How doesn’t it make sense?” Willa fired back.

“If I’m interested in men, why would I be hitting on a woman?” Autumn asked.

Willa froze for a second. Looking a little flustered, she answered, “How should I know? Maybe you swing both ways. Maybe you like men and women!”

“And what makes you think I swing both ways?” Autumn asked with interest.

“Isn’t it obvious? Everybody has sexual urges,” Willa said confidently.

Autumn replied, “So by your logic, before you married Killian, you must’ve been flirting with men everywhere and spending every night with a different one?”

“No way!” Willa cried out. “Honey, you have to believe me! I’ve never been with any man except you! Don’t let Asher get into your head!”

Killian smiled in a calm, knowing way. “It’s fine. I’m not stupid.”

Only then did Willa relax. Resting a hand on her pregnant belly, she looked at Autumn with disdain. “Men and women aren’t the same! Women can handle being alone. Men can’t!”

Autumn nodded seriously. “That actually makes sense.”

Willa lifted her chin proudly. “So, what do you have to say now? I was right, wasn’t I? Mr. Wright, what are you waiting for? Arrest him and interrogate him! Find out how many supplies he stole!”

“So you’re this eager to get rid of me because you want Killian to take my place?” Autumn asked. After everything she’d seen in her past life, she couldn’t help but find the whole thing amusing.

Willa protested. “I am not! I’m just telling the truth. Besides, my husband has always been Mr. Wright’s right-hand man. Whatever position he has is up to Mr., Wright.”

“So you’re saying all of this is completely selfless? Leonel, you heard that, right?” Autumn said with a smile.

Leonel let out a helpless sigh. “Killian, do you think the same way?”

Killian looked surprised. “Of course not. I already said I’m not stupid. Why would I be as stupid as her? Most of what I own is with Asher. In the apocalypse, supplies are your life. I trusted him with my life. Why would I see him as a threat?”

Willa stared at him in shock. “Holicy, what are you talking about?”

“I’m saying you’re an idiot,” Killian said bluntly. “Stop embarrassing yourself and go back.”

“I’m not leaving!” Willa snapped, jerking her arm out of Killian’s grip. She pointed at Autumn and shouted. “He stole Mr. Wright’s key! Why aren’t you punishing him? This isn’t fair!”

She screamed, “Ah! I’m in labor! The baby’s coming!”

And just like that, the whole farce came to an end.

Willa was taken back to the delivery room to give birth.

Since everything had been prepared ahead of time, there was no panic.

The doctors and nurses were already waiting in the delivery room. As soon as Willa was brought in, they quickly changed her intò a hospital gown and got her ready for labor.

Willa’s parents and younger brother also rushed over and waited outside.

Willa’s mother grabbed Killian and started firing off questions. “She was fine before! How did she suddenly go into labor? Did you do something to upset her? Killian, she’s carrying your child! If anything happens to her or the baby…”

Killian cut her off impatiently. “Enough! If she hadn’t gone looking for trouble, she wouldn’t have worked herself up and gone into labor early. Keep nagging me, and I might just kick them out! You can take the home and feed them yourself!”

Willa’s mother fell silent at once. She didn’t dare say another word.

If this had happened before the apocalypse, she could have stood her ground and taken her daughter and grandchild home.

But now, with supplies so scarce, they couldn’t afford to support another person.
