Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 137

Chapter 137 When the Monsters Came Crawling

Graham shifted nervously in his seat. “Mr. Wright… how sure are you?”

I'm not. Leonel replied. “It’s just a guess. Who can honestly say they’re sure about anything anymore? We’re all guessing.”

Graham couldn’t sit still for another second. He hurried out.

Leonel turned to Autumn. “I was right, wasn’t I?”

Autumn nodded quietly. “When this extreme heat ends, seawater will start moving inland. This whole area will become coastline.”

Leonel sucked in a sharp breath. “You mean… all that land in the south will be underwater?”

“Yes.” Autumn looked into the distance. “And it won’t stop there. The ocean will keep spreading until only the northwestern highlands are left.”

Leonel rubbed his hands uneasily. “I guess we’d better inspect every boat we have before then.”

“First, let’s survive this plague,” Autumn said. She wasn’t sure if she was comforting Leonel or herself.

The plague outside was still spreading.

Ironically, the sudden explosion of mutant insects had slowed it down. The bugs were devouring infected refugees, reducing the number of people spreading the disease..

It was hard to say whether that counted as a blessing or another disaster.

When Autumn returned to her cave, she stood on the mountaintop and looked over the land below.

The world stretched out before her, empty and lifeless.

If she had been alone in a place like this, she would have fallen into despair before long.

Thankfully, this time she wasn’t alone.

Leonel had gathered every mutant flying ant around the nearby mountains and traded them with the shelter. In return, he received a large supply of a newly developed plant nutrient solution that allowed vegetables and crops to grow without soil.

Autumn thought it was fascinating. She asked for some herself and soon had vegetables hanging from every corner of her cave in hydroponic planters.

David had found a new hobby. He spent every day happily tending the plants.

Just when everyone thought the bugs had finally disappeared, the third wave arrived.

This time it was mutant spiders and mutant mosquitoes.

Calling them spiders and mosquitors didn’t quite do them justice. They were monsters that only Assembled thei

At least no one had to worry about them squeezing through the steel mesh.

They were simply too huge.

The spiders were as wide as wagon wheels, while the mosquitoes were about the size of owls/Every one of them looked like an oversized nightmare.

The mosquitoes filled the sky. The spiders crawled across the ground.

Within minutes, the mountainside was covered again. There wasn’t a single gap left.

“My goodness! Is this some kind of sci-fi movie? How did these things get so huge?” People cried out in shock, their backs crawling with goosebumps.

Faced with the giant mutant bugs, Autumn stayed surprisingly calm. She even set up a table, ate her meal, and quietly watched them as if she were studying wildlife.
