Chapter 14 New Neighbor

The mobile home didn’t need to be very large.

A little over 1,000 square feet was enough-three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom

The entire structure would be reinforced steel and thick concrete. Once the foundation was completed, it was basically a giant concrete bunker, designed to withstand the bites and chewing of toxic insects.

As for the interior, Autumn would handle it herself.

She installed plumbing and electrical wiring, fitted outlets, laid flooring, finished the ceilings, and installed a bathtub, toilet, and sink.

Each room was equipped with a heated brick bed platform for warmth during the cold seasons.

The closets were packed full of quilts, winter clothes, shoes, and socks.

Then she stored the entire structure inside her storage space and transported it directly into the cave.

After positioning it properly, she began installing electrical wiring throughout the cave itself.

It took Autumn three days to light up the entire cave. As long as they plugged in a generator, it would become a fully functional miniature shelter.

Looking at the finished result, Autumn finally let out a long breath. Half of the anxiety she’d been carrying was finally gone.

After seeing the photos, David gave her a thumbs-up and informed her that all the seeds and seedlings of the grain, medicinal herbs, vegetable seeds, and fruit she’d ordered had arrived.

Delighted, Autumn stuffed everything into her storage space and decided she’d spend some time learning how to farm.

She could do almost anything, but farming was definitely not one of her skills.

So she went out and bought a mountain of books on agriculture and cultivation.

Only then did she realize she had forgotten about stocking up on entertainment supplies.

She immediately went online and started placing orders like a madwoman, paying people to download every kind of digital entertainment imaginable.

No matter whether it was domestic, foreign, classic, or modern, if it could be found online, she wanted it all.

At that very moment, Leonel had finally finished tracking down Autumn’s movements.

When he learned that she had been frantically purchasing enormous quantities of supplies, something stirred in his mind. Without hesitation, he ordered his subordinates to purchase everything and categorize them into food, clothing, housing, and transportation.

He had a feeling that Autumn definitely knew something.

And it was something connected to the survival of humanity itself.

“Autumn, this is the last batch of supplies,” David said, gesturing toward the mountain of prepared meals in front of him. “Two chefs have already worked themselves into exhaustion. The other two don’t ever have the energy for overtime anymore.”

“That should be enough,” Autumn replied after storing the final tray of food. “This is enough for the two of us to eat for the rest of our lives. I’ve already stored plenty of other food. We won’t have any problem eating well.”

“What should we do next?” David asked.

“Close the restaurant and let everyone go,” Autumn said after a moment of silence. “There’s less than half a month left before the apocalypse. Let them spend time with their families.”
