Her neck cracked loudly, the sound alone radiating arrogance.

The flunk-out princess pointed at Autumn. “Get him! Beat this little punk to death! Whoever finishes him off gets a thousand credits from me!”

“Asher, be careful!” Kayla couldn’t stop herself.

“This lot isn’t worth being careful over. Because-” Autumn snatched up a chair and hurled it into the crowd. “They’re not even worth my caution!”

Bang, bang, bang! Bang, bang, bang!

In a heartbeat, the whole group was flat on the floor.

Bernice’s face was pure disbelief. “You-you stay back! My father is Harlan Vance! You hurt me, and he will never let it go!”

“Then I’ll kill you both and solve the problem for good.” Autumn’s smile turned savage. She lifted the chair and made as if to bring it down.

“Aah! Daddy! Help!” Bernice was scared into tears, and the sharp smell of urine went up with them.

Autumn dropped the chair on the floor. “So that’s all you had in you.”

“Who dares lay a hand on my daughter? He is not walking out that door!” A much louder voice came from behind her.

Autumn turned to see a jowly, big-eared man with an enormous gut come charging in from outside.

Anybody who could keep a figure like that in the apocalypse was generally no ordinary man.

“So you’re Harlan Vance?” Autumn gave him a once-over. “Looks like I’ll be putting both you and your daughter in the ground today.”

“You’re the one picking on my daughter? You should’ve asked around about who I-” Harlan never finished. A scimitar had already passed across his throat.

Autumn lowered the blade, unhurried.

She raised a hand and gave him a push.

The heavyset man dropped to the ground with a thud.

Only after he hit the floor did blood burst from the severed artery.

“Aah! Aaah!” The sight shocked Bernice clean out of words. All she could do was clutch her head and scream.

Every person in the room was stunned by the turn it had taken.

Who would have thought Autumn would just go straight for the kill, without wasting a single breath?

Didn’t normal people trade insults for a while first?

“Wait, spare his-!” Scott came sprinting over, mopping the sweat from his forehead. But before he could even reach them, Harlan had already hit the ground. “… Never mind then.”

Autumn took out a handkerchief, wiped the scimitar clean, slid it back into her belt, and lifted her eyes to him. “Hm? Something you needed?”

“I heard there was trouble in the mess hall. I didn’t expect this kind of trouble. Though it looks settled now.” Scott added immediately, “No-there is still one small thing.”

“If it isn’t urgent, deal with this first.” Autumn pointed at Bernice. “She’s been complaining nonstop about being stuck at Aurora Base, about how it isn’t as comfortable as the central shelter. Clearly, the whole family feels that way. Aurora Base doesn’t force anybody to buy what we’re selling. If she wants the central shelter that badly, send her there. And pack up everyone who came with her and ship them out too.”

Scott sighed, at a loss for words. “All right. Wait in my office for a bit. Once I’m done here, I’ll come find you.”

“Mm.” Autumn turned unhurriedly and beckoned to Kayla. “Let’s go.”

Kayla followed close at her heels.

Even though they had seen Autumn in action countless times, every single time she made a move, it was so damn cool it left jaws on the floor and knees weak.

“Mr. Marsh! Why does she get to just walk away after killing someone? Is there no law here? Is there no justice?” someone shouted in protest.

Scott didn’t even bat an eye. “Justice? You’re preaching to me about justice? Do you have any idea that every single bite of food you ate today came straight from her? You’re eating her

food, and now you want to bite the hand that feeds you? You have the nerve to talk to me about justice? Look around-what kind of world do you think we’re living in? Is there anyone here who still doesn’t understand the value of a single grain of food?”

“No way, really? Haven’t we been eating our own supplies this whole time?” someone argued in disbelief. “Bernice said everything we’ve been eating belongs to the shelter.”
