Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Midnight Break-In

Anyone who had survived the apocalypse understood one thing: never put all your eggs in one basket.

It didn’t have to be much. Maybe just a few compressed ration bars and some bottled water.

But when you were starving and dying of thirst, those supplies could save your life.

An hour later, a new message popped up in the group chat. It was a photo of a case of bottled water, captioned, “Payment received.”

The chat was silent for three seconds. Then it exploded.

Everyone started flooding Autumn’s private messages, begging her for food, water, medicine-anything.

None of them had expected quiet, unremarkable Autumn to have so many supplies. She had casually given away an entire case of bottled water.

Which meant she was probably hiding even more supplies!

But plenty of people had also started feeling wary of Autumn.

She had always looked thin and friendly. No one expected her to be so ruthless. She didn’t think twice before throwing a punch, and she hit hard.

But there were others who were secretly plotting to rob her.

They figured she was just a young girl-someone they could take care of with barely any effort.

Once they took care of her, all of her supplies would be theirs.

Amused, Autumn read every single private message. Then, she calmly turned on Do Not Disturb for strangers and blocked all friend requests.

Everjoy Residences was about to get a whole lot more “joyful.”

Who would be next?

Two in the morning.

Autumn was sleeping soundly when her phone suddenly started beeping.

She pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and grinned.

The security system at her apartment in Everjoy Residences had detected an intruder.

Yawning, she opened the live feed.

Three men were lurking outside her front door.

One of them asked, “Are you sure this is Autumn’s place? Is she inside right now?”

The second man said. “I’ve never heard of her having another place. One of the neighborhood committee ladies told me she’s an orphan. She spent years saving up just for the down payment on this apartment. The mortgage alone is already enough to weigh her down. There’s no way she could afford another house. Where else would she be? In weather this hot, göing ourside is suicide.”

The third man said, “No wonder she hasn’t come out in days. She’s been hiding inside because she’s got a stockpile of supplies. I also heard she’s pretty-tall and slim. Once we’re done with the supplies, we can take turns having our way with her. Hehe…”

“Oh, absolutely. You guys go first. I’ll take my turn last.” The three men burst into lewd laughter.

This was what people were really like in the apocalypse.

None of this surprised Autumn anymore.

This was exactly why she’d installed security cameras before she left.

It would have been such a shame to miss out on all this entertainment!

After fiddling with the lock for a while, the men got the door open.

The moment it unlocked, they rushed in impatiently.
