Chapter 37 Another Upgrade
Once she was fully geared up in her protective suit, she slipped out under the cover of night to the surrounding suburbs. She bought heirloom seeds that local farmers had saved for themselves and scouted the terrain, locating seed companies and agricultural supply factories for future zero-dollar hauls.
Sure enough, many heirloom crop varieties that had disappeared from the market were actually still preserved in the hands of elderly farmers.
Autumn casually bought a batch of those heirloom seeds and tossed them into her storage space.
Suddenly, a wave of dizziness hit her.
She instinctively leaned against a nearby wall and lowered her head.
Sweat poured off her body.
Her vision blurred, and stars filled her eyes.
Gritting her teeth, she struggled to pull a bag of glucose from her storage space, ripped it open roughly, and chugged the whole thing into her mouth to replenish fluids.
Someone nearby noticed something was wrong. “Hey, kid, are you okay?”
Autumn looked up.
Her vision was so blurry that she could barely make out the person’s face.
She gave a slight shake of her head to show she was fine.
Another voice nearby chimed in. “Must be heatstroke. Even at night, it’s still unbearably hot. If I didn’t feel trapped at home, I wouldn’t have come out either.”
“He’s got water with him. Let’s not get involved. Come on. If something happens, we don’t want him blaming us.”
“Good point.”
The voices gradually faded into the distance. Autumn’s legs gave out. She slumped against the wall and
blacked out.
She had no idea how much time passed before she finally woke up.
Her clothes were completely soaked with sweat, as if she’d just been dragged out of water.
Autumn couldn’t help feeling relieved. Even though this was the apocalypse, rural areas still had wells and food, so people hadn’t completely lost their humanity the way they had in the cities.
The people here still retained the sense of restraint they had before the apocalypse. Otherwise, if she’d passed out like this, someone would’ve hauled her off and traded her for supplies.
Thinking about what had caused her to pass out, she angrily stepped into her storage space.
The moment she entered, every bit of frustration vanished.
The tiny stream and small patch of black soil had transformed into a wide, flowing river and endless fields of rich farmland.
Not far beyond the fields stretched a lush field of grass.
Farther away, mountains had appeared.
Looking up, there was still no sun, moon, or stars. But now there was a gentle breeze. The air even carried the scent of flowers.
She turned around. The little grass hut had transformed into a standard courtyard house.
And the storage area had become an enormous warehouse with infinite size and height.
“Oh my god! That blackout was totally worth it!” Autumn grinned from ear to ear.
