Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 83

Chapter 83 No Mercy Left

“What did you do to them?” Beckett’s breathing became heavy. If Autumn and Leonel hadn’t held him back tightly, he would have already charged forward.

“What did we do? Let me think… Oh, there was a soldier nained Mateo Grimm. He refused to obey the leader, so they cut out his heart and served it to the leader as a snack. Everyone who tasted it said it was delicious…” His voice was full of sick pleasure, as if he was still savoring the memory.

Beckett couldn’t take it anymore. He broke free from Autumn and Leonel’s grip, rushed forward, and threw a punch.

Bang!

The man was knocked to the ground. The punch was so hard that he couldn’t even catch his breath.

The people around them swarmed over him like flies. They crazily ripped off his clothes and wrapped them around themselves.

In just a few seconds, he was left completely naked.

In a freezing cellar like this, even if Beckett’s punch didn’t kill him, he would freeze to death from the cold.

An older man in the crowd spoke up. “Young man, don’t lose your temper so easily. This has become a world where people eat one another. Those with ability go to shelters. Those without it just survive one day at a time.”

Beckett’s eyes filled with tears. “But you shouldn’t have attacked the people who came to rescue you!”

“Who asked them to rescue us? It wasn’t me.” The man sneered. “It’s been half a year since the apocalypse began, and you’re still that naive? Who else is there to blame?”

Those words left Beckett with no way to argue.

He clenched his fists tightly. His nails dug deep into his palms, drawing blood, but he didn’t feel any pain at all.

He regretted it.

A kind of regret he had never felt before.

Autumn was right.

Those survivors weren’t human anymore. They were nothing but monsters.

This wasn’t a peaceful world. This was the apocalypse.

Yet he had still used the old ways from the past to lead his people, relying on his past experience to face thus cruel and bloody world.

He was wrong

***

He was the one who led those soldiers who trusted him and followed him to their deaths!

Seding that Beckett had finally realized his weakness, Autumn stood up. She lazily brushed the dust off her clothes and said, “Alright, it’s time to go back. It’s getting late.”

“Trying to leave?” The man sneered. “You won’t make it out of here. There are guards everywhere outside. Plenty of people have already tried.”

“Is that so?” Autumn replied casually. She took a hairpin from her temple and lightly poked at the lock with it.

“Click!”

The lock opened with a soft sound.

“What was that sound?” Someone heard the noise and walked toward them.

Autumn hid herself in the shadows. The moment the person came over, she reached out, grabbed his head, and gave it a quick snap.
