“I... I heard you clearly.”
“Get out!”
Having received Elena's permission, Gloria felt a massive weight lift off her shoulders and scurried away in disgrace.
Bianca sat back down on the new sofa and sighed. “You really are ruthless. You cut off that finger without a second thought.”
She had been genuinely startled.
She knew Elena lived life on the edge, but she hadn't expected her to be so decisive.
Just thinking about the severed finger gave her the creeps.
At the time, Elena had been playing with it in her hand. It was absolutely terrifying.
“If I'm not ruthless, why would anyone fear me? Gloria should stay quiet for a while now. If she dares to bully you again, just tell me.”
Bianca scoffed. “I don't need your pity!”
“Who's pitying you? I just can't stand people like her.” After saying that, Elena went back to her room to sleep.
Early the next morning.
When Bianca woke up, she found a note on the table.
[I'm gone. The card is for your living expenses for the next few days!]
She knew Elena had truly left this time.
Bianca held the card, suddenly feeling a sense of loss.
Habits were terrifying things. Once formed, breaking them felt abrupt and uncomfortable.
However, she considered herself a hard-hearted person. She wouldn't pine over this.
She tossed the note directly into the trash can.

Evergold Heights.
“Go clean up over there. The wind picked up last night, and there are a lot of fallen leaves.” Elwood was directing the staff.
Elena walked over and hugged Amanda. “Mom, why are you crying? I told you, I was just going out for a walk to clear my head. Look, I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?”
“I know, but for some reason, we couldn't get through to your phone. I've been so worried!”
“My battery died, so the phone shut off.”
“Elena, it's just good that you're back. We've been worried to death. Every time we asked Dylan, he said you were fine, but we just never saw you...” Daniel's voice choked with emotion.
“Dad, I'm fine. Nothing happened. I left in a hurry this time and didn't get a chance to tell you. I really did go traveling with friends to clear my mind. The signal there wasn't great.”
Daniel didn't say anything more, though he understood clearly.
This was no vacation.
Although he didn't know exactly what had happened, the worry in his heart had been constant.
“Ah! My sweet sister! I haven't seen you in so long, I missed you to death!”
Ben suddenly ran over in high spirits, picked Elena up, and started spinning her around in circles.
Elena was speechless.
