Daniel was genuinely furious, his voice ringing out with a severe, unyielding authority.
Edward and Gavin knew they were entirely in the wrong, and neither dared to meet his gaze.
After all, the First Branch hadn't received a single penny.
"Alright, I'm full. We're done here."
With that, Daniel stood up, took a few steps toward the door, and looked back at the house one last time.
"You all kept complaining that this old residence was cursed and unlucky because of the dead. Since you've already decided to sell it, find a time to move out. Take care of yourselves!"
Leaving them with that final instruction, Daniel led his family out the door.
The Second and Third Branches felt a bitter taste in their mouths, but no one spoke a word.
It was their own greed that had caused this. They were the ones who had refused to share a single dime with the First Branch.
Daniel even thought to himself that if these two brothers had valued their blood ties and offered him a portion of the estate, he might have actually looked out for them in the future.
Unfortunately, he had seen their selfish, greedy true colors.
He wasn't going to throw his kindness to the dogs.
As their car drove away from the old residence, Daniel looked out the window one last time.
The old lady was gone, and the family had completely shattered.
The old residence would be sold, and the Whelan Group... would likely crumble in their hands.
But none of that mattered to him anymore!
He had never gotten to enjoy any of it anyway.
Who told the old lady to keep trying to use him right up until her dying breath?
-
Meanwhile, at the Ellington Group.
A few days had passed.
"I've seen shameless people, but trying to impersonate someone else's daughter takes the cake."
"We all know you're just jealous of Lorna. But no matter what you say, even if she never works a day in her life and just coasts, she's still doing better than you ever will!"
"Yeah, keep dreaming your little billionaire dreams!"
As everyone piled on to mock Theresa, Charles Pembroke casually strolled over.
He sneered, a look of pure schadenfreude on his face. "Theresa, how did it feel getting publicly humiliated that day?"
"None of your damn business, Charles. Shut the hell up. The day I take over this company, the first thing I'm going to do is fire your ass!"
Theresa was completely deadpan, but Charles simply assumed she was utterly delusional.
How could a nobody like her ever take over the company?
And even if she somehow got a promotion, how high could she possibly climb?
He was about to officially become the Ellington family's golden son-in-law. When that day finally arrived, she would be the one getting kicked to the curb!
