Chapter 165
Lilith & Natalia
Lilith
I stormed away from the gazebo, maintaining a composed expression despite the rage simmering beneath my skin. It was supposed to work. The plan was perfect; create a fantasy of a night spent together, miraculously get pregnant, and then he would marry me.
It was definitely the easiest out of all of my plans to execute, and it could have been accomplished without anyone getting hurt.
But he had refused to marry me.
I knew exactly who was to blame for this.
Natalia.
She should have fucking stayed dead.
I smiled and nodded at guests as I made my way through the crowd, accepting congratulations and shaking hands while my mind worked furiously. I needed to hurt her. Needed to make her pay for ruining everything.
But how?
I’d already tried having her killed multiple times, and somehow she kept surviving. The bitch had nine lives, apparently. And now she had that recording of me admitting to drugging her at the banquet. If she survived another attempt on her life and it got traced back to me, Andrei would destroy me.
No, I couldn’t touch Natalia directly. Not anymore.
But there were other ways to hurt someone. Other targets that would cut deeper than any blade ever could.
My gaze drifted across the party until I spotted them–the twins. Jane was spinning in circles while Max was sitting on a stone bench nearby, picking at a plate of cake. That nanny that followed them everywhere was nowhere to be found.
Perfect.
Those children were Natalia’s weakness. Anyone with eyes could see how much she adored them. She would probably throw herself in front of a speeding car if it meant protecting them.
And I was almost certain they were Andrei’s, not Damon’s. The eyes were a dead giveaway–that distinctive shade of green that both Andrei and Damon shared, but more than that was the way Andrei looked at them. He felt the connection. He adored them.
If I eliminated the twins, I’d be killing two birds with one stone. I’d remove any potential heirs that could threaten my child’s inheritance, and I could destroy Natalia in the process. She might even kill herself from the grief, saving me the trouble of arranging another “accident“.
The thought made my face split into a smile.
I approached the children slowly. Jane looked up as I approached. She was always the more trusting out of the two, it seemed. She was an airhead, just like her mother.
“Hello!” she said, giving me a little curtsy. “Do you like my dress?”

I pretended to give a shit.
“Of course I do, darling,” I said, crouching down to her level. “Are you enjoying the party?”
“Oh yes! The lights are so pretty, and there’s so much cake!” She gestured enthusiastically toward the dessert tables.
“I’m so glad. You know, I have something even better than cake,” I said, reaching into my purse. I always carried a few pieces of expensive chocolate–the kind that melted on your tongue that I had to import from overseas. Would you and your brother like some special treats?”
Jane’s eyes went wide. “Really?”
