Chapter 186
With a nod, I stepped past Catherine and into the room. Jane was crying quietly against my shoulder. Max was pale but clearly trying to be brave.
“I’m sorry, Mommy,” Jane sniffled. “I didn’t mean to cause trouble.”
“You didn’t cause any trouble, sweetheart. None of this is your fault.” I set her down on a chair and crouched in front of both twins. “Max, what you said back there about the lady pushing Jane into the lake… can you tell me more about that?”
Max nodded solemnly. “I forgot because it was so scary, but remember now. She gave us chocolate and said we should go look at the water. But when we got there, she pushed Jane really hard. She pushed me too, but I didn’t go as deep, so I could get out.”
My hands started shaking. “And you’re certain it was her?”
Max nodded vehemently, and the fury that filled my veins was unlike anything I’d felt before.
The fucking bitch had terrorized my children. She’d tried to murder them.
She wouldn’t get away with this.
I pulled both twins into a fierce hug, fighting back tears of rage and relief. “You’re safe now. Both of you. And you never have to be scared of her again.”
A few moments later, the door opened again. Lilith and Andrei entered the room, flanked by two guards. Catherine trailed in behind them. If it weren’t for the audience I had right now, I knew I would leap across the room and rip Lilith’s throat out with teeth.

But for now, I settled on giving her an angry glare that didn’t break away as she took a seat at the table.
“Now,” Catherine said, gesturing to one of the guards that was holding a laptop, “let’s get this sorted, shall We?”
“Yes,” I growled, still staring at Lilith. “Let’s. But first, I have something to share of my own. Kids, plug your ears.”
The twins jammed their fingers into their ears. Lilith held my stare and lifted her chin in a silent challenge, but I could see the terror flicker through her eyes as I pulled out my phone.
“What are you-”
“Shut up,” I snarled.
With a few taps, I found the recording I’d saved and hit play. My own voice filled the small room.
“So it was you.”
“Of course it was me.”
“Why? Why go to all that trouble?”
“Why not? You took everything from me. My man, my title, my future. I just wanted to return the favor… By

exposing you for the sint you are. You always were so fucking, perfect, weren’t you?”
Lilith’s eyes went wide. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. The recording went on. Each and every damning moment of it.
“I had a camera set up in that sitting room. I was going to record the whole thing, and post it online for everyone to see. Can you imagine the scandal? The beloved Luna ‘Mira‘ of Ashmoor caught fucking, another Alpha behind her husband’s back? Your sparkling reputation would have been ruined,”
“But it didn’t work…”
“No… David may be a pig, but he’s not stupid enough to drug a Luna in public…”
Lilith looked like she was going to be sick. Catherine and the guards had all gone pale, listening intently.
“You think he’ll believe you?” the recording went on. “After everything you’ve done? Besides, he’s already mine. You should have heard the way he howled…”
“I’ll tell him everything,”
“Go ahead and try. But no one will ever believe you. It’s your word against mine. And I’m not the dumb slut who let herself get drugged at a party,”
The recording finally ended with a satisfying click. In the silence that followed, I held Lilith’s stare, silently daring her to try anything again.
She was ruined. And she knew it–I could tell by the way her lips were trembling, the way her hands gripped the edge of the table. The defeat and horror on her face was priceless. Did she really think I was lying when I said I would share the information I had if she misbehaved? Did she really think she could hurt my children and get away with it?
Slowly, I turned to look at Andrei.
His face was as white as a sheet.
