Chapter 332
“You don’t believe it.”
“I want to, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and right now we don’t have any.”
I sighed. “It was just a shot in the dark, anyway. It’s probably nothing.”
“Not necessarily. My Beta is going to keep digging, see if he can find any written records or firsthand accounts. But it’s going to take time.”
“Time we might not have.”
“Which is why I think we should table this discussion for tonight.” Andrei tightened his grip on me. “We’ve got a party going on in there, you’re having our third child, and for once in the past few weeks, no one is trying to kill us at the present moment. Let’s just… enjoy that for a little while, huh?”
He was right. I’d spent so much time lately worrying about the future that I’d forgotten to appreciate the present. “You’re right,” I said. “We can worry about magical rubies and rogue kings tomorrow.”
“Exactly.” Andrei reached into his pocket and pulled something out. “Speaking of stones…”
My breath caught when he opened his hand.

My throat constricted. “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying that I love you. I’ve loved you for years, even when we were apart, even when I thought I’d lost you forever.” Andrei took my left hand in his. “I’m saying that you’re the best mother I’ve ever seen, the strongest woman I know, and the only person I want by my side no matter what happens next.”
“You’re asking me to marry you,” I blurted out.
Andrei smirked. “Well, I was hoping you might let me finish the question first, but yes. Will you marry Again?”
me?
“Yes,” I replied without even a moment of hesitation. “Yes, of course I’ll marry you. Again and again and again.” Andrei’s face broke into the biggest smile I’d ever seen from him. He slipped the ring onto my finger, then lifted my hand and pressed a kiss to my palm before placing our joined hands over his heart.
“I was starting to worry you might say no,” he admitted.
“What? Why?” My vision was blurred with sudden, unexpected tears, although I blinked them away if only to see him more clearly.
“If I knew, I’d tell you.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that. “You’re incorrigible,” I teased, gently pulling my hand away from his chest so I
