Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack (Evelyn and Damon) novel Chapter 262

Ethan pov

I carried Nadia carefully back toward my room once the sedative had fully settled her into deep, genuine sleep, understanding she needed the comfort and familiarity of somewhere quiet and secure to actually rest properly given everything overwhelming she'd navigated throughout the entire difficult morning.

I tucked her gently beneath the blankets, adjusting them carefully around her, and stood there for a moment simply watching her breathe—slow, even, genuinely peaceful now that the medication had eased whatever overwhelming panic had gripped her so completely.

Once I felt confident she'd remain settled, I began quietly straightening the room, understanding I needed some productive, physical task to actually occupy my restless hands while my mind continued cycling through everything we still faced regarding the council proceedings and continued threat against her safety.

A soft knock at the door made me freeze mid-motion, and I moved quickly to answer it, understanding I needed to keep the noise minimal given Nadia's continued rest.

My mother stood there, several large bags gathered in her arms, her expression carrying gentle, careful consideration despite the obvious weight she was managing.

"I brought her some things," she said quietly, her voice pitched low, clearly understanding the necessity of keeping quiet given the circumstances.

I opened the door wider, gesturing her inside, and watched her carefully set the bags down near the dresser, her attention immediately shifting toward Nadia's sleeping form with obvious, genuine concern.

"How is she," my mother asked softly, settling into the chair I'd vacated earlier.

"Sleeping," I said, keeping my own voice equally quiet. "The doctor's sedative finally helped calm the overwhelming panic she was experiencing."

My mother nodded slowly, something deeply sad crossing her tired expression as she continued watching Nadia's peaceful form. "Your father told me everything," she said quietly. "The council petition, the continued messages. This is genuinely devastating, Ethan."
