Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack (Evelyn and Damon) novel Chapter 264

Nadia pov

I woke slowly, the lingering fog of whatever sedative I'd been given still clouding my thoughts, and took a moment simply to orient myself, understanding I was in Ethan's room, tucked warmly beneath his blankets.

The events of the morning came back gradually—the devastating news about the council petition, my own overwhelming collapse, the doctor's careful intervention. I felt genuine embarrassment building at the memory of needing that kind of medical support, though exhaustion still weighted my limbs enough that fully processing that emotion required more effort than I could currently manage.

I shifted slightly, and my gaze landed on Ethan, seated at his desk across the room, apparently absorbed in whatever he was watching on his laptop.

He was shirtless.

I hadn't fully registered that detail until this exact moment, my eyes suddenly, entirely unable to focus on anything else beyond the sheer, undeniable evidence of exactly how thoroughly he trained his body. Muscles shifted subtly beneath his skin as he leaned forward slightly, studying something on the screen, and I found myself genuinely, completely distracted by the display.

"Ethan," I said, my voice still rough from sleep.

He spun the chair around immediately, his expression shifting from focused concentration to immediate, warm concern the moment he saw me awake.

My eyes went wide.

*Really* wide.

He was built. Genuinely, thoroughly built in ways that the loose shirts he typically wore had apparently concealed rather effectively. His chest carried defined, obvious strength, and as my gaze traveled lower, I found myself staring rather openly at abs that looked genuinely sculpted, the kind of physical definition that suggested years of dedicated, disciplined training.

"Hi baby," he said, something warm and genuinely pleased crossing his expression as he watched me wake. "Did you sleep good?"

I heard the words, understood he'd asked me something, though my brain apparently required a genuine, embarrassing moment before actually processing the question properly, my eyes still very much fixed on the impressive display in front of me.
