CHAPTER 132-1

Clara’s POV

I woke up sore and satisfied, my body still humming from last night’s intense encounter with Darius. Every muscle ached in the best possible way, reminding me of exactly how thoroughly he’d claimed me.

The morning sun streamed through the curtains as I stretched, wincing slightly at the tender spots he’d

left behind. Worth every second.

After a quick shower, I pulled on my running gear and headed out for my usual morning jog around the territory. Although it was past the usual time, the fresh air always helped me clear my head and I knew it’s help me work out some of the stiffness in my muscles after the intense sexcapade with Darius last night.

The run felt good, therapeutic even. By the time I returned to the packhouse, I was feeling more like myself and ready to tackle whatever tasks needed attention.

I spent the morning helping with various pack duties, Organizing supplies for the medical wing, assisting with training schedules, reviewing security reports. The kind of work that kept a pack running smoothly but

never made headlines.

It felt good to be useful, to contribute something meaningful to the community that had taken me in.

But as the day progressed, I began to notice something odd. People were staring at me. Not the usual curious glances I’d grown accustomed to as the newest pack member, but something different. More intense. Moresignificant.

At first, I tried to ignore it. Maybe I was imagining things, reading too much into innocent looks. But when I walked into the dining hall for lunch, the entire room went quiet. Conversations stopped midsentence. Forks paused halfway to mouths. Every eye in the place turned to me.

That definitely wasn’t my imagination.

I grabbed a sandwich and sat at an empty table, trying to act normal while my mind raced. What had

r changed? Why was everyone looking at me like I’d grown a second head overnight?

The whispers started almost immediately. Low, urgent conversations that stopped whenever I looked in their direction. I caught fragments of words but nothing that made sense.

Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore.

I approached a group of women who’d been stealing glances at me since I’d sat down. They looked nervous as I got closer, like they’d been caught doing something they shouldn’t.

Is there something on my face?I asked, trying to keep my tone light. Everyone’s been staring at me all morning.

The women exchanged looks. One of them, Sarah from the administrative office, cleared her throat.

3 CHAPTER II

You really don’t know?she asked.

Know what?

Another woman, Beth from the kitchen staff, gave me a look that was part pity, part disbelief.

About the announcement, she said. About you being our new Luna.

The words hit me like a physical blow. I stared at her, certain I’d misheard.

What did you say?

Alpha Darius announced it yesterday,Sarah said, her voice careful. “There was an emergency pack meeting. He told everyone you were going to be Luna. There’s going to be a ceremony and everything.”

My mouth went dry. He what?

Congratulations, I guess,Beth said, but her tone suggested she wasn’t entirely happy about the news.

I stood there frozen, trying to process what I’d just heard. Darius had announced that I was going to be Luna? Without telling me? Without even asking?

Excuse me,I managed to say, then turned and walked out of the dining hall as fast as I could without

running.

My mind was spinning as I made my way toward Darius’s office. Luna? He’d decided I was going to be Luna and announced it to the entire pack without bothering to inform me first?

The anger building in my chest felt like fire, hot and fierce and growing stronger.

I reached his office and pushed through the door without knocking, ready to give him a piece of my mind.

Darius, what the hell-

I stopped short. The office was empty. Worse than empty, it was chaos. Construction workers were measuring walls, moving furniture, and discussing renovation plans. Dust sheets covered everything, and the air smelled like fresh paint and sawdust.

Excuse me,” I said to the nearest worker. Where’s Alpha Darius?

CHAPTER 132-2

Don’t know, miss. We’re just here to expand the office space. Adding a connecting room for the Luna,

from what I hear.

Luna office. He was already building me an office. Planning my future without my input.

The reality of the situation hit me like a freight train. This wasn’t a sudden decision or an impulse announcement. This was planned. Calculated. He’d been thinking about this, preparing for it, making

arrangements.

All without saying a word to me.

I walked out of the office in a daze, my feet carrying me automatically back toward my room. The hallways seemed longer than usual, the sounds of the packhouse muffled and distant.

When I reached my room, I closed the door behind me and sat heavily on the bed. My body felt stiff,

robotic, like I was moving through thick water.

Luna. He wanted me to be Luna.

The memory of our conversation came flooding back. His words echoing in my mind like a warning I should have heeded.

In time, you’ll understand exactly what you signed up for.

I’d thought he was talking about our relationship, about the complex dynamics between us. But this was what he’d meant, wasn’t it? This was the deeper game he’d been playing all along.

He was dragging me deeper into something I didn’t fully understand, binding me to him and his pack in ways that went far beyond our personal connection. Making decisions about my life without my consent.

I felt trapped, caught in a web I hadn’t seen being woven around me.

nswers.

Part of me wanted to storm back to find him and demand answers. To rage at him for making choices about my future without including me in the process.

But another part of me, the calculating part that had learned to survive in a world that wanted to destroy me, was already thinking about the implications.

Luna of Shadowfang Pack. One of the most powerful positions a woman could hold in our world. The kind of authority and resources that came with that title were staggering.
