CHAPTER 145-1
Liana’s POV
I approached the storage building with a smile on my face, excited to see how my plan was working out The guards nodded respectfully as passed, and I could hear voices coming from inside.
But as I got closer to the door, the voices became clearer, and my smile faded.
“Please,” I heard Clara’s voice, desperate and frightened. “Please don’t do this to me.”
Then Jaden’s voice, rougher than I’d ever heard it. “It won’t hurt. And when it’s over, everything will be like it
should have been from the beginning.”
What the hell was going on in there?
I crept closer to the door, pressing myself against the wall so I could listen without being seen.
“No,” Clara screamed. “No, I won’t let you.”
“Stop fighting me,” Jaden said. “This is meant to be.”
My blood ran cold as I realized what was happening. Jaden had found Clara, and from the sounds of it, he
was trying to force himself on her.
I’d brought Clara here to torment her, to make her pay for stealing my life. But Jaden was supposed to be disgusted with her, not trying to claim her.
How had everything gone so wrong?
I heard Clara scream again, and the sound of struggling. Then suddenly, there was a loud thud, like
someone had been pushed against the wall.
“Get away from me,” Clara’s voice was stronger now, filled with rage instead of fear.
“Clara, please,” Jaden said, and I could hear the desperation in his voice. “I’m trying to fix what broke
“You can’t fix this,” Clara replied. “You rejected me. You chose her. You made your choice.”
“I was wrong,” Jaden said. “I see that now. I want you back.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. Jaden wanted Clara back. After everything I’d done, after all the
ways I’d tried to be the perfect rnate, he still wanted her.
“I don’t want you back,” Clara said firmly. “I have Darius now. He’s my mate, my chosen mate.”
“You only think you love him because of his mark,” Jaden argued. “If I mark over it, you’ll remember how you felt about me.”
I felt sick. Jaden was willing to force a mating mark on Clara just to have her back. He was willing to assault her to get what he wanted.
CHAPTER 14
And I was the one who’d made it possible by bringing her here.
“You’re delusional,” Clara said. “I never loved you the way I love Darius. Even before his mark, I knew what
real love felt like.”
“That’s not true,” Jaden said, but his voice was less certain now.
“It is true,” Clara continued. “Darius sees me for who I really am. He values my strength, not my
submission. He doesn’t need me to be weak to feel powerful.”
Each word was like a knife to my heart. Clara was describing everything I’d never been able to give Jaden.
Everything I’d never been able to be.
“I can be different,” Jaden said. “I can appreciate your strength.”
“You had your chance,” Clara replied. “You threw it away for someone prettier, someone more willing to
follow orders. You made your choice.”
There was silence for a moment, then I heard Jaden’s voice again, softer now.
“You’re right,” he said. “I was an idiot. I chose wrong. But I’m here now, trying to make it right.”
“Making it right doesn’t involve forcing yourself on me,” Clara said coldly.
“I wasn’t forcing myself on you,” Jaden protested. “I was trying to break his hold over you.”
“His hold?” Clara laughed, but it wasn’t a happy sound. “Jaden, I chose Darius. I chose to let him mark me.
I chose to be his mate. There’s no hold to break.”
I could hear Jaden moving around, probably pacing like he did when he was frustrated.
“I don’t deserve this treatment,” Clara continued. “After what you did to me before, after how you rejected
and humiliated me, I deserve better than being chained up and assaulted.”
“You’re right,” Jaden said quietly. “I’m sorry. I just… when I saw his mark on you, I lost control.”
I heard Clara sigh. “I know you’re confused, Jaden. But forcing me isn’t the answer.”

CHAPTER 145-2
“Then what is?” Jaden asked. “How do fix this?”
There was a pause, and when Clara spoke again, her voice had changed. It was softer, more gentle.
“Maybe we could talk,” she said. “Really talk, without the chains and the threats.”
My heart sank. Was Clara actually considering giving Jaden another chance?
“You mean that?” Jaden asked, hope clear in his voice.
“I’ve missed being home,” Clara said carefully. “I’ve missed… some things about being here.”
“Clara,” Jaden breathed.
“But if we’re going to do this, we need to do it right,” Clara continued. “I can’t mate with you in some dirty
storage building. I need time to process everything, and I need a proper place to stay.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Clara was playing Jaden, using his emotions to get what she wanted.
And he was falling for it completely.
“Of course,” Jaden said eagerly. “You can have the Luna suite. You can have anything you want.”
“Thank you,” Clara said. “I think… I think maybe we can work things out. But we need to take it slow.”
Rage filled me like a wildfire. Clara was getting everything she wanted. Again. She was convinci to give her a comfortable place to stay while she figured out her next move. And he was too stupid and
desperate to see it.
I couldn’t stand it anymore.
I pushed open the door and stormed into the building.
“How touching,” I said sarcastically.
Jaden
Both Jaden and Clara turned to look at me. Clara was standing against the far wall, her clothes torn and
her hair messy. Jaden was across the room from her, looking disheveled and quilty.
“Liana,” Jaden said, his face going pale. “I can explain.”
“Oh, I heard everything,” I said, my voice dripping with venom. “I heard how you were begging for her. How
you wanted to mark over another Alpha’s claim just to have her back.”
Jaden opened his mouth to respond, but I held up a hand to stop him.
“And I heard how she manipulated you into promising her the Luna suite,” I continued “How she played on your guilt to get what she wanted.”
Clara glared at me but didn’t deny it.
“You brought her here,” Jaden said, realization dawning on his face.
CHAPTER 14
“Of course I did,” I said. “I wanted to make her pay for ruining my life. But I didn’t expect you to throw yourself at her feet the moment you saw her.”
“Liana, I can explain, Jaden said again.
“Explain what?” I snapped. “How you’re still obsessed with her? How you’re willing to assault her just to get
her back?”
“I wasn’t assaulting her,” Jaden protested.
“You were trying to force a mating mark on her,” I said. “That’s assault.”
Jaden looked away, shame clear on his face.
“But don’t worry,” I said, my voice taking on a sweeter tone. “I have a solution.”
I walked toward Jaden, swaying my hips and making sure Clara could see every movement.
“Liana, what are you doing?” Jaden asked nervously.
“I’m reminding you what you have,” I said, reaching out to touch his chest. “I’m reminding you why you
chose me in the first place.”
Jaden stepped back. “This isn’t the time.”
“This is exactly the time,” I said, following him. “Clara’s here now. She can see what she lost when she ran
away.”
I pressed myself against Jaden, running my hands over his chest and shoulders.
“Liana, stop,” Jaden said, but his voice was weaker now.
“Why should I stop?” I asked, standing on my toes to whisper in his ear. “I’m your mate. I’m the one who’s
been taking care of you while she was off playing house with another Alpha.”
I glanced over at Clara, who was watching us with disgust and anger.
“See, sister?” I said to her. “This is what a real mate does. She takes care of her Alpha.”
“Liana, this is inappropriate,” Jaden said, but he wasn’t pushing me away anymore.
