Clara’s POV

The sound of footsteps woke me from the light sleep I’d managed to find. It was deep into the night, and

darkness pressed against the small windows of the storage building. My body ached from the uncomfortable position I’d been forced to sleep in.

The door opened and both Jaden and Liana walked in. They looked like they’d dressed carefully for this

visit. Jaden wore his formal Alpha clothes, the kind he used for important pack meetings. Liana was in a

beautiful dress that made her look like the perfect Luna.

They wanted to make an impression.

“Good evening, Clara,” Jaden said, his voice formal and controlled.

late?”

“I’d still be Jaden’s mate,” Liana said. “That’s what matters to me. The title isn’t important.”

Liar. I could see it in her eyes, hear it in her voice. She was planning something, but I needed to know

what.

“What would I have to do?” I asked, making my voice smaller.

“Just come home,” Jaden said. “Let me fix what I broke between us.”

“I don’t know,” I said, letting my voice waver. “This is all so confusing. I thought you hated me.”
