Clara’s POV
“Facts,” Lucien corrected firmly. “I can show you the texts if you doubt me.
I held up a hand, stopping the debate before it escalated. “This isn’t up for discussion. The bonds are complete. The Goddess decided this, not me, I’m your Luna. These are my Alphas.” I let that sink in, made
eye contact with as many pack members as I could. “Anyone who has a problem with that can take it up with me directly. But understand this: I will not apologize. I will not explain. I will not justify what the
Goddess herself created.”
Silence fell over the room. Heavy and tense.
Then, from somewhere in the back, a young female warrior spoke up. “You fought Mira for us. You showed mercy when you could have killed her. You’ve proven yourself as Luna over and over.” She stepped
forward, meeting my eyes. “If the Goddess gave you four mates, maybe it’s because leading this pack
requires that much strength. I support you.”
She dropped to one knee in formal submission.
Others followed. Slowly at first, then faster. Pack members kneeling one by one, showing their
acceptance, their loyalty. Not everyone. Some remained standing, faces tight with disapproval. But more
than half the pack knelt.
It was enough..
“Thank you,” I said quietly. “Now get up. We have work to do.”
They rose, and the tension in the room eased slightly. Not gone, but manageable.
Derek approached again, this time more confident. “There are urgent matters. Messages from other
territories. Some are demanding explanations. Others are offering alliances. And…” He hesitated. “The Council has sent a formal summons. They want you to appear before them within the week.”
My stomach dropped. The Council. Of course they’d heard about this by now. “What exactly does the
summons say?”
“That you need to explain and justify this irregularity. They want to ensure pack law is being upheld.”
Derek’s expression was grim. “It’s not a request, Luna. It’s a command.”
I looked at the four Alphas around me. “They want to separate us. Make me choose.”
“They can try,” Darius said darkly. “Doesn’t mean we’ll let them.”
“We all go,” Killian added. “Show them a united front from the start.”
“Agreed,” Lucien said. “This is not negotiable. We present our case together or not at all.”
Ronan nodded. “They’ll have to go through all of us to break these bonds.”

The mate bonds hummed with their determination, their solidarity. Whatever the Council threw at us, we’d face it together.
“Alright,” I said to Derek. Accept the summons. Tell them all five of us will appear. In the meantime, I need to see every message that came in while I was unavailable. I need to know exactly what we’re dealing
with.”
“There’s more,” Derek said reluctantly. “Alpha Hendrik of the Northern Ridge pack has issued a formal
challenge. He’s questioning your fitness to lead given what he calls your moral corruption. He demands
you either step down or face trial by combat.”
The room erupted in angry muttering. A challenge to my authority, right now, was the last thing we needed.
But maybe it was also an opportunity.
“When and where?” I asked calmly.
Derek blinked. “You’re accepting the challenge?”
“I’m not going to hide from every Alpha who has an opinion about my personal life. If Hendrik wants to
challenge me, fine. We’ll handle it before the Council meeting. Show everyone that this arrangement
doesn’t make me weak. It makes me stronger.”
