CHAPTER 79
Clara’s POV
Alpha Killian was crouched over me, his large body shielding me from the avalanche of rocks and debris. His back was covered in cuts and gashes where the falling stones had hit him ifistead of me.
Blood was dripping steadily from multiple wounds across his shoulders and back, creating dark stains on his shirt. Some of the cuts looked deep, and I could see that he was in significant pain.
I froze, too shocked to process what was going on. My mind couldn’t understand why he would do something like that. Why would he risk his own life for someone he barely knew?
We stayed like that for several long moments, with him crouched protectively over me and blood dripping
from his wounds onto the ground around us.
Finally, I snapped out of my reverie when everything broke loose around us. People were shouting and rushing toward us from all directions.
“Alpha Killian!” Derek’s voice cut through the air as he and the rest of my team rushed toward us. “Are you injured?”
“We need to get him medical attention immediately,” someone else shouted.
“How bad are the wounds?” another voice asked.
“Someone call the pack doctor!”
But despite the urgency in everyone’s voices and their attempts to get him to move, Killian was adamant about not leaving. He remained exactly where he was, showing no signs of moving away from me even though he was clearly in pain.
“Alpha, you need medical attention,” Derek said firmly. “Some of those cuts look serious.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Killian replied, his voice strained but determined.
“You’re bleeding heavily,” Derek insisted. “You need to let the doctor examine you”

“I said I’m not leaving.”
He stood his ground despite everyone’s protests. Blood was still dripping from his wounds, and I could see some of it on his hand as he slowly reached toward me.
With blood still staining his fingers, he gently caressed my cheek. His touch was surprisingly tender considering the pain he must have been feeling.
Then he carefully tucked some loose strands of hair behind my ear, his movements gentle and protective. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice soft but filled with genuine concern.
I was still so shocked by everything that had happened that I could only nod in response. My voice

seemed to have completely disappeared.
After he was satisfied that I was unharmed, he began to move closer to me. Each step was clearly difficult for him, and I could see his face contorting with pain as he forced himself to move.
When he was close enough that I could see the intensity in his eyes, he spoke again.
“You’re mine,” he said, his voice rough with pain but absolutely certain. “And if I have to embrace death for
you, I will.”
The words hit me like a physical blow, but before I could even begin to process what he had just told me, his strength finally gave out.
He collapsed forward, and I instinctively reached out to catch him. As he felt toward me and I held his unconscious body against mine, I realized the true extent of what he had endured.
His back was a mess of cuts and gashes, some of them deep and still bleeding heavily. He had taken hits that could have killed me, rocks that could have crushed my skull.
“We need to get him to the hospital immediately,” Derek said, taking charge of the situation.
Killian was rushed to the pack hospital, and I could only stand outside the treatment area and watch nervously as doctors and nurses worked on him. Every minute felt like an hour as I waited for news about his condition.
I was still pacing anxiously when Darius arrived at the hospital. He looked worried and slightly out of
breath.
“Are you fine?” he asked immediately when he saw me.
“Yes,” I replied, looking down at my blood–stained hands. “All thanks to Killian.”

stable,” Dr. Hayes said when I asked about Killian’s condition. “The injuries look worse than they Jally are.”
felt relief wash over me, but then Dr. Hayes continued.
“There is something unusual, though. Alpha Killian keeps requesting for Clara. Even while unconscious, he was saying her name repeatedly.”
This information made me feel weird in a way I couldn’t explain.
“His vital signs improve dramatically whenever we mention that Clara is safe and waiting to see him,” Dr. Hayes added. “Your presence might actually help him recover faster.”
The doctor’s words sent a strange chill down my spine. I could only nod and accept his suggestion to visit

“The moment we told him you were safe, his heart rate stabilized completely, Dr. Hayes explained as he led me toward Killian’s room. “I’ve been practicing medicine for twenty years, and I’ve never seen anything
quite like it.”
