Helena was equally stunned.
The auction had caused a massive uproar in their circles. Rumor had it that a mysterious buyer had completely crushed the competition to secure the set.
Helena had been slightly disappointed at the time, as the emeralds boasted flawless color and clarity, easily making them worth every penny of that fifty million.
But the proxy bidder had been so aggressive, raising the price without a single second of hesitation, that everyone else eventually backed down.
After all, without knowing who they were up against, throwing tens of millions of dollars into a bidding war just wasn't worth the headache.
"I can't believe the mysterious buyer who caused all that chaos was you."
Helena hurriedly snapped the box shut. "You keep this for yourself. I absolutely cannot accept it."
Even Carter was taken aback. He hadn't realized she had prepared something so staggeringly expensive for his mother.
Emma, however, remained entirely unfazed. She calmly placed the jewelry box back into the gift bag and handed it directly to the Harrington family butler.
"I am the daughter-in-law of the main Harrington branch, and Carter is now the head of the family. My gifts don't just reflect my sincerity—they reflect my power."
Emma's cool, unbothered smile radiated an overwhelmingly dominant aura.
To anyone else, it might have sounded arrogant, but to Helena, it was pure music to her ears.
Evelyn, Percy's mother, stared with eyes burning with fierce jealousy, suddenly feeling thoroughly embarrassed by the simple silk scarf she had received.
"Emma, you're being entirely too flashy," Violet frowned, unable to hold her tongue.
If Emma gave her mother-in-law something this massive, how was Helena supposed to reciprocate?
"I am Carter's wife, and she is my mother-in-law. A fifty million dollar set of emeralds is nothing. Even if she wore something twice as expensive, it wouldn't be flashy at all."
Emma turned to look at Carter. "Right, Carter?"
"My wife is absolutely right. If she wants to give it to my mother, and my mother likes it, then it isn't flashy in the slightest."
Carter was secretly thrilled to have an excuse to call her 'wife' in public and immediately backed her up.
But internally, his mind was already spiraling.
Even the maids, bodyguards, drivers, and security personnel received three incredibly thick red envelopes stuffed with cash.
Helena was stunned again. The Vance family was essentially throwing money into the wind at this point. She quickly smiled and thanked him for his extreme generosity.
Suddenly, the rest of the Harrington family looked at Emma with significantly warmer expressions.
No one in the room was stupid. They knew perfectly well that Julian's gesture wasn't just a display of goodwill—it was a blatant warning.
The fact that every single gift and envelope was meticulously accounted for spoke volumes.
"My parents cherish my sister deeply. She may not carry the Vance surname, but she is the absolute jewel of our family. Carter is, at best, barely an equal match for her."
Julian paused, his tone shifting sharply.
"To be honest, we originally intended to stay out of my sister's marriage. But given the disastrous precedent set in the past, her family must step in, whether she likes it or not. Therefore, the Vance family requests that there be no official wedding ceremony for her and Carter in the near future, to ensure no past embarrassments repeat themselves and shame both our families."
"Wouldn't you agree, Edward? Helena?"
