Thinking she had made a brilliant point, Gillian turned directly to the cameras.
"This guy is probably just a hired thug Emma paid to infiltrate the roster. No one in this country has ever heard of him! My brother is the real champion."
Emma just smiled faintly, but everyone could see the sharp mockery laced in her expression.
Gillian's words instantly ignited the crowd's fury.
"A hired thug? Where did this clueless idiot come from? She doesn't even know who Travis is?"
"The real champion? Travis has swept every international title in existence and still stays humble. How does that nobody have the nerve to claim he's the best?"
Everyone in the stands was a diehard racing fan, and as the most popular professional driver in the world, Travis's fanbase was massive.
The arena instantly erupted into chaos. Realizing things were spiraling out of control, Tristan gritted his teeth and forced out, "I apologize."
He stepped toward the microphones, but before he could speak, a group of people surged forward.
"Tristan, what's going on?"
They moved aggressively, all wearing matching racing club jackets.
"Travis, when did you get back in the country?"
A woman in a tight leather dress stepped up, her tone dripping with authority. "Bullying my people the second you land? Give me some face. Settle this privately instead of making a scene for the cameras."
Gillian's eyes lit up. "Mavis! It's been forever!"
Mavis Ryder was a prominent socialite, and her presence instantly gave Gillian a massive confidence boost.
Emma recognized her too. Not personally, but by reputation.
Mavis was Travis's arranged fiancée. Their families were locked in a massive corporate merger.
"Mavis, stay out of—"
Before Travis could finish, Emma grabbed his arm.
"Travis, let it go for now."
Emma didn't know exactly who Mavis was defending, but with cameras everywhere, she couldn't let Travis start a public war with his own fiancée over her.
It would throw her right into a PR nightmare.
Travis glared murderously at Gillian. Realizing the danger, Tristan quickly shoved his sister behind him.
"I'll find another time to apologize to her for yesterday," Tristan said stiffly.
Travis sneered at him. "Stay the hell away from her. Do you really think she cares about your pathetic apology? That bet was just to prove she isn't someone you can push around."
With that, he walked off, completely ignoring Mavis.
Gillian seized the moment. "Mavis, is he your fiancé? It really looked like he cared more about Emma than you."
Mavis narrowed her eyes. She didn't even like Travis, but her pride wouldn't allow someone who belonged to her to favor another woman.
Keeping a girl hidden overseas was one thing, but parading her around here?
Did he think the Ryder family was a joke?
Her heels clicked sharply as she turned to leave, pulling out her phone.
"Get me a crew. We're grabbing a girl."
