Phoebe glared at Emma with righteous indignation, her eyes brimming with utter disappointment.
Emma blinked, genuinely surprised that such an idiotic statement had actually come out of her mouth.
"Phoebe, Gillian is a psycho, but are you out of your mind too? Emma is my sister-in-law. Percy is the one pathetically stalking her. Instead of confronting him, why the hell are you harassing my sister-in-law?"
Scarlett furrowed her brows, fiercely defending Emma.
Emma let out a cold laugh. She gently pulled the furious Scarlett back, pulled out her phone, and dialed Percy's number.
"Em, why are you calling me? Did something happen? Where are you?"
The call was on speakerphone, projecting Percy's desperate, suffocating eagerness for everyone to hear. It was blatantly obvious who was chasing who in this dynamic.
Emma spoke with icy detachment. "Percy, you had better get your mess with Gillian under control. I have zero interest in being her imaginary rival. If you can't figure out how to handle her, I will handle it myself."
Percy instantly recalled the day they broke up, when Emma systematically blocked him on every conceivable platform.
Panic bled into his voice. "Is she harassing you again? I'll handle it. You don't need to lift a finger, just leave it all to me. Please, don't do anything."
Percy was genuinely terrified. He had fought far too hard to finally have a way to contact her again.
Emma gave a dismissive hum and hung up without a second's hesitation.
She lifted her gaze to Gillian, a mocking smirk playing on her lips as she took slow, calculated steps forward.
Overwhelmed by Emma's crushing aura, Gillian felt a spike of primal fear and subconsciously backed away.
Seeing this, Phoebe immediately threw herself in front of Gillian as a human shield.
"Emma, Gillian just doesn't want a third person interfering in her relationship with her boyfriend."
Phoebe's voice wavered as a wave of guilt hit her.
She had no idea Percy was behaving so submissively toward Emma. She truly believed Emma had gone crawling back to him out of spite over the breakup.
Emma locked eyes with Phoebe, pulled up a message on her phone, and shoved the screen in her face.
"Doesn't want what, exactly?"
Phoebe's eyes focused on the screen, and she instantly froze in shock.
"Your best friend just ran off. Aren't you going to chase after her?"
Gillian ground her teeth together. She never expected Emma to keep receipts of those text messages.
With the whispers of the crowd intensifying, she knew staying would only invite more humiliation. She shot Emma a venomous glare and stormed out.
"Emma, you are amazing!"
Scarlett stared at her with literal stars in her eyes. Her sister-in-law's dominance was absolutely intoxicating.
Emma offered a gentle smile and turned. "I had a few bottles of vintage wine sent over. Since you're hosting, your party needs to be absolutely flawless."
At that moment, Scarlett was entirely ready to propose to her sister-in-law herself.
Just as she threw her arms around Emma to shower her with affection, Tiffany strolled over.
She had her arm looped intimately through a man's.
"Scarlett, have you thought about what we discussed last time? That pigeon's blood ruby necklace really doesn't suit you. Why don't you just give it to Tiffany?"
