Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 169

Hearing those words, Emma instantly knew who the man standing before her was.

Dominic Mercer. The man Scarlett had been crushing on, and the very same idiot who had sent a bouquet of pink roses while Grandfather was hospitalized.

"Are you brain-damaged? Has the bruise on your face from the last time I threw something at you healed already?"

Scarlett found Dominic utterly repulsive now. He wanted to hook up with another girl, yet had the sheer audacity to hustle his way into taking her jewelry? What an absolute scumbag.

"Let it go, Dominic. That necklace is obviously a gift from one of Scarlett's suitors. It must have a special meaning to her, so we shouldn't force her," Tiffany chimed in, perfectly playing the role of the sweet, understanding victim.

Scarlett literally laughed out loud.

"Drop the manipulative act, Tiffany. That necklace was a gift from my sister-in-law."

Scarlett declared proudly, making Tiffany's polite mask slip into an ugly grimace for a split second.

"Who do you think you're fooling? If you said your brother bought it, I might believe you. But Emma? How could she afford that? She survived entirely on Lockwood family handouts while she was abroad."

Dominic didn't keep up with socialite gossip and barely knew anything about the inner circles.

He still thought of Emma as the discarded Lockwood outcast who was shipped overseas and dumped by her fiancé. Even if she was living comfortably now, he assumed it was strictly because she had latched onto Carter, so he didn't give her an ounce of respect.

"What the hell is the Lockwood family? You think my sister needs their pathetic handouts?"

A man strode through the grand entrance. Dressed in effortlessly edgy streetwear with the brim of his cap pulled low, he radiated a cynical, rebellious arrogance.

"And where the hell did you crawl out from? Is this party just letting any random stray dog—"

Dominic's sneer died in his throat the moment the man pulled down his mask and tilted his chin up.

Travis flashed a contemptuous smirk, his eyes blazing with untouchable arrogance.

Ignoring Dominic completely, he walked straight up to Emma and looked her up and down.

"You look like you're recovering fine. I guess that kid Carter took decent care of you."
