Emma met with Tristan alone, and he got straight to the point.
"I only need you to promise me one thing: after you solve the car crash case, you leave the country." Tristan stared directly at Emma, placing the phone, sealed in an evidence bag, right in the center of the table. "And never come back."
Emma couldn't help but laugh. Leaning lazily against the back of her chair, she arched an eyebrow. "You think you can banish me with a single phone? Do I look like someone who makes bad deals?"
"You have the Vance and Reynolds families backing you. You can live a perfectly comfortable life abroad. Carter even threw away the Harrington family just for you. Why can't you just leave?"
Tristan tightened his fists. Ever since Emma had returned to the country, everything in the Lockwood family had spun completely out of control.
Emma's initial engagement cancellation was due to her questionable identity, but now that she was married into the Harrington family again, she was no longer a disgrace.
But Gillian was entirely different. She had been publicly dumped as the proud daughter of the Lockwood family, turning her into a total laughingstock among the elite.
"Only if you leave permanently can the Lockwood and Harrington families return to normal. Why do you stubbornly refuse to walk away?"
Tristan glared at her with pure hostility. Was she determined to drive everyone to ruin before she was finally satisfied?
"If that's the only condition you're offering, then we have nothing left to discuss."
Emma grabbed her bag and stood up. Tristan shot to his feet immediately. "No room for negotiation?"
"None at all."
Tristan clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. Just then, Gillian strutted into the room.
"Tristan, force her to sign a letter of forgiveness so Sienna can be released."
Gillian barked the order like a tyrant. Tristan looked bewildered, but his eyes still darted toward Emma.
Emma considered it for a moment. This wasn't a terrible trade.
"Fine. Hand over the phone."
Gillian lifted her chin arrogantly. "You write the letter of forgiveness first."
Emma lowered her eyes, a cool indifference masking her face. That house had been Tristan's first major purchase with his championship prize money, bought solely as her birthday present. But because she hadn't been eighteen at the time, the paperwork had been too complex, so the deed had remained under his name.
Tristan had poured his heart and soul into planting every inch of that yard with vibrant flowers just for her.
"My little sister only needs to be a delicate princess. Only a garden overflowing with flowers is worthy of you."
The same Tristan who had sworn those words years ago now effortlessly handed the house over to Gillian, adding, "You can plant whatever you want. After all, you're my absolute favorite sister."
Emma quietly composed her expression, but just then, Tristan spoke up again.
"I remember there's still a ton of your garbage in that villa. Go clean it out and take every last piece of it with you."
Without even bothering to look up, Emma shoved the phone back into the evidence bag and stood tall.
"Throw it all away. None of it matters anymore."
Tristan's face instantly twisted in shock. How could she possibly say those things didn't matter?
