Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 257

Emma spent the entire night steadying her emotions, trying her best to appear normal the next day.

However, the moment she arrived at the office, Sebastian showed up.

"Sebastian, I..."

Emma didn't know what to say. She wasn't sure if her cousin and the rest of the Jennings family believed she was the one who hurt Violet, just like the Lockwoods did.

"The family already knows what happened to Violet," Sebastian sighed, pulling out a document.

"These are her surgical records and her current vital statistics."

Emma looked slightly taken aback. "You believe me?"

"Of course I believe you. You were raised by Violet, and I watched you grow up. I know your character perfectly well. You would never do something like that."

Sebastian paused, casting her a concerned look. "But not everyone in the Jennings family shares my view, so you still need to be careful."

"Thank you, Sebastian."

Emma took the stack of reports and began reading, her expression growing more solemn by the second.

"Is it really bad?"

Although Sebastian came from a long line of medical experts, his specialty was pharmaceutical research; his clinical diagnostic skills were lacking.

Emma's gaze turned dark. "There must have been a significant delay from the moment Mom was injured until she received emergency treatment."

From the moment she discovered Violet's injury to Gillian calling the ambulance and getting her into surgery, it had barely been twenty minutes.

"Ten minutes. Mom was already injured approximately ten minutes before I went upstairs."

Emma calculated the timeline of the attack, continuing, "I was downstairs for roughly ten minutes as well. Mom must have been attacked almost immediately after I left the room."

"I'll make sure Logan knows this. Don't worry," Sebastian offered, assuming she was trying to prove her innocence to the Lockwoods.

But Emma shook her head. "My point is, ten minutes should technically be enough time to clean up any traces left at the scene. Why would they resort to something as extreme as arson?"

Sebastian caught on, his expression turning deeply serious.

"Which means they were extremely pressed for time, or there was something in that room they couldn't take with them?"

Emma gave a brief rundown of the events, including the two contradictory DNA reports, before asking, "Gillian didn't tell you?"

"No, she hasn't contacted me for days," Pamela replied. She then placed her hands firmly on Emma's shoulders, her expression dead serious.

"Since the report the Lockwood family saw was fake, you should just do another one. If the Lockwoods refuse, I can help you."

Emma shook her head, seemingly unbothered by it all. "The Lockwood family is in enough chaos right now. Let's put this aside for now."

"Then what are you going to do? So many people in the Lockwood family misunderstand you." Pamela looked incredibly invested in Emma's well-being.

Emma pressed her lips together. "The innocent have nothing to fear. I didn't do it, so I have nothing to hide."

"You poor child. Do you suspect one of your mother's close friends harmed her?" Pamela asked with deep concern.

Emma's gaze turned sharp. "Everything centers around the fact that Mom was pregnant with twins, yet absolutely no one knew. So I figure there must have been some circumstance back then that I'm unaware of."

Pamela pondered for a moment before lowering her voice.

"I actually do know something about that."
